The Cat House

The Cat House A cat/kitten contact facility that assists in finding a purrfect cat or kitten for you to adopt. We network with all shelters and local rescues.

We are NOT an intake facility anymore. All kitties are "fixed' vaccinated, tested, flea/worm treated, and FIV/FeLV neg. We will help you to find the cat/kitten you are looking to adopt as an indoor pet by networking with local shelters/rescues!

Thank you to Ruthie and Brit for visiting the cats and bringing Churo treats. We love visitors! Also, Julie sent us a bucket of Tidy Cat litter and Fancy Feast wet food pate food which we use now instead of Friskies wet food (Oliver was vomiting with Friskies). Julie got some worm meds from us and then even took the kitty she rescued to the vet and found him a good indoor home! GOOD JOB, Julie. Please come to see our residents at the Cat House if you an hour to spare.

The residents at The Cat House are eager to have visitors again. We had many visitors last month, but not too many this month. Please come by anytime to love on the kitties and sit outside with them. Our volunteer, Amy, has sat out with them for an hour or two at a time. With her efforts, Calypso and Tuffy, the shy boys, have really become less fearful and will stay outside in the catio instead of running inside and hiding. Adoptions have been at a stand still for over a year. If you are looking to adopt, we have some ready for an indoor home. IF you prefer a kitten, we work with Delihah's kitten haven who has several kittens you can chose from. We also have been working on TNR in one area and have just a few more to trap and get fixed. If anyone can help wih TNR, we need people to help. There is no formal TNR group in Port Clinton, and we certainly would love to get a group of dedicated people together to assist. Mary and Stephanie have been the key people in this recent TNR project. Please contact us if you can help in any way. We also need volunteers at the Cat House for various things. We do accept court ordered community service as well as hours students may need for community service. THANK YOU to everyone who helps us and any animal in any way!

Two more female cats were trapped by Mary this am to be spayed. That makes a total of 8 from this colony that have been spayed/neutered. Stephanie got the first kitty back in June. She had to leave the state for family issues. Mary has quickly learned to set the traps and get the kitties the same morning of their vet appt! GOOD JOB! Anyone that gets a kitty fixd is helping to decrease the numbers of homeless kitties!

As of 8-26-26 UPDATE!!! Well, Mary discovered why the female black and white cat, Braveheart, has been avoiding being trapped. She has kittens hidden in a place no one would think of. So, that being said, we still have to get her spayed and find homes for little kittens!

THANK YOU to DeDe and Paul for the big bottle of Fabuloso! We use this to wash down all of the walls before winter gets here. We have started washing walls, but we have only gotten the little room and part of the outside cattery wall done. We will stay at it until it gets done!

A big thank you to Katelyn F for the 2 buckets of Tidy cat clumpable litter and a BIG box of paper towels from Mary D! These are things we use every day and can always use. Emily G also donated a cat tree which Miss Wiggles inspected and approved as soon as I took it into the Cat House! The only thing we still need is fabuloso in the lavender bottle (or the generic) and Clorox bleach as we are gradually washing down all of the walls, inside and out.
W encourage visitors to show attention to the residents and hope to get a few adopted into indoor homes soon. We have not had an adoption since Dec 2024. The Cat House is nice, but there is nothing better than a loving indoor home.

This is our Amy. We had her in our Senior for Seniors program. But the older woman had to move and could not take Amy with her. So she came back to us. She's not fond of other kitties. So she is happy as can be in a room by herself. Don't let another kitty in. Her mood changes so fast. She is so sweet though to humans.

Today was a happy day! Two senior declawed cats (Dixie and Howard) were adopted by Colleen. They were cats that were rescued by a lady and gave them a good life. Unfortunately, the lady died, and no one seemed to want these lovable, healthy lap cats. Colleen saw that they faced being euthanized if no home could be found and so, she adopted them.I am sure that they will be in bed with her tonite! Thank you to Steve and Denise who brought the cats to Port Clinton with new toys, litter boxes, wet food, treats, bowls, litter scoopers, litter liners. Another family member gave us a donation.
Howard and Dixie, you will be spoiled and loved!
We love outcomes like this!!!

Mary W and Sandy have started to volunteer on Thursdays, and we feel so grateful for them and all volunteers, donators, and anyone who helps us and any animal in any way! Please come to visit our 9 residents if you have 1/2 hour to spare. The kitties LOVE visitors!

Today, Harper (8th grader) and her mom, Alyssa came to The Cat House to visit the cats. We gave Churo treats to Ozzie and Miss Wiggles. Ozzie started licking Alyssa's toes as he does when anyone wears sandals. Next, we brushed a few of the cats and played with them. Oliver really liked Harper and sat in her lap. Then, we washed down the walls in the small room as the A/C is in that window. They plan on coming back soon to visit the kitties. We thank them for bringing the cats a canister of Temptaion treats. We love to have visitors and hope to see more visitors!
