The Cat House

The Cat House A cat/kitten contact facility that assists in finding a purrfect cat or kitten for you to adopt. We network with all shelters and local rescues.

We are NOT an intake facility anymore. All kitties are "fixed' vaccinated, tested, flea/worm treated, and FIV/FeLV neg. We will help you to find the cat/kitten you are looking to adopt as an indoor pet by networking with local shelters/rescues!

An UPDATE on spay/neuter program here in Port Clinton. Two of Amy M's cats that were adopted into a great home went to be fixed this week at Oak Harbor Vet. "Popcorn", the male kitty that Kitty H rescued near the Popcorn business in downtown Port Clinton goes to get neutered on June 16th. He will stay with Kitty H and her fiance as a forever family pet. The female that was captured in downtown Port Clinton had 4 kittens. Kitty took here in. She will be spayed as soon as the babies are weaned. Kitty has a home lined up for one of the kittens.
We will continue to post updates. We are not a formal TNR group. We just have a very few people doing the housing and transport. We have had some wonderful people who donated to cover the spay and neuter surgeries. We will continue to do all that we can. I know that Oak Harbor vets, Dr Stone and Dr Josh are keeping very busy!

If you have an hour or so to spare, please come to visit our residents. A few of them are shy, but if you sit outside with them in the outdoor cattery, many love to be brushed or petted. Our youngster, Ozzie, loves to play. They are waiting for you!

Amy M took in the nine baby kittens found in a cardboard box last night. They were found on county road 128. It was raining, and they were cold. I went to see them today. Amy is doing a fantastic job. She even has an incubator for them! If anyone wants to help her, she can use KMR powder, baby wipes (NO fragrance), puppy pads and wet Fancy Feast KITTEN food for when they get to that age. You can message the Cat House if you want to help. I take the items to her. Thank you to anyone helping animals in any way!

What a great day! Amy and Kitiara are taking great care of baby kittens, Kitiara transported both to and back to Oak Harbor vet for the spaying of 2 female cats. I finally met Carrie Leigh, a super gal who is transporting yet another female kitty, Gypsy, to get spayed, tested, vaccinated, and microchipped. Momentum is picking up over here in Port Clinton with Kitiara and Carrie joining in! "Popcorn" is the male kitty getting neutered in a few weeks. He was one of the kitties rescued near the Popcorn business in Port Clinton. We wish there were more vets in this area because calls for help continue, and we are keeping Oak Harbor vets, Dr Stone and Dr Josh and staff very busy! Everyone is doing what they can to help.
On another happy note, Marla Mc stopped at The Cat House on Monday and brought 2 boxes of litter and a few more cat supplies as well as monetary donations in memory of John, her husband, who passed away. John and Marla had rescued "King Tut" several years ago and brought him to the Cat House. "King Tut" is the handsome black and white kitty that is our major profile photo for The Cat House. He was adopted into a wonderful home and was very loved until his final day of life on July 13, 2021. We will be posting first names and last name initials of the many people who carried out John's wishes to help us at The Cat House. Marla wants to start voluteering with her two grandsons once school is out..another WIN! THANK YOU to everyone who is working so hard in any way to get more kitties fixed and adopted into indoor homes when appropriate.

THANK YOU to Julie R and her son, Ethan, for stopping in to visit with the kitties on Thursday. The kitties love visitors, and with each visit from anyone, the shy ones will become more sociable. Julie and Ethan also left Party Mix treats, a big bucket of Tidy Cat litter, and Friskies pate wet cat food, all things we use every day.
This week, 4 kitties get spayed because of the generosity of some animal lovers. With the vouchers that these donations covered, we have already booked into August at Oak Harbor Vet! We want to keep this momentum going. Pet Project (Lauren and Katie) in Sandusky and Community Initiative TNR program in Fremont have also been busy getting kitties spayed/neutered! Amy, the "kitten" lady has taken on 4 more bottle babies with another to arrive today or tomorrow! When we join our efforts, so much can be done to prevent the birth of more homeless kittens! THANK YOU to anyone who helps the animals in any way!

Tonite when I went to The Cat House to give Oliver his medication, he wanted on my lap for at least 20 minutes! He let me wipe his eyes and wanted so much attention. Ozzie tried to fit on my lap like he did yesterday, but Oliver took all of my lap today.
The small canister vaccum cleaner I had broke today...a wire was severed. If anyone has a small canister (no bags) vacuum cleaner to donate, that would be great. I am looking to see what is available. It has to be small but mighty!
Next, on my way home, I stopped to get chicken. The lady who waited on me told me about 19 (YES..19) cats that need to be fixed in her neighborhood. We already have several booked from different areas. Oak Harbor vet is the vet who accepts the vouchers, and they are all the way booked into late July. Thank you to those of you who sponsored the vouchers. It looks like the need for this service is very great. I hope I can find volunteers to transport!
