There's no place like home 🏡 😌 Harley started as a foster and now his mom decided he needed to stay for good 💓🎉

It didn't take long for Harley to find his favorite spots in his new house:
- The bench seat where he can watch over the front yard (and squeeze into the cat bed 😂)
- The ottoman in the living room where he is closest to the couch in case a snuggle opportunity pops up 😘

Harley is already making great progress learning his commands and how to control his impulses when his older doggy sister and kitty brother enter the room, thanks to his mom's help. I have high hopes for this sweet boy 🐶

New dog integration doesn’t have to feel like crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.

Ollie and Summer just welcomed two new siblings — Franklin and June — and their parents followed the step‑by‑step integration plan we created together. Slow intros, safe spaces, predictable routines, and lots of positive associations… and look at them now.

Happy 4th Birthday to my precious peanut, Sheba!! 🥳🐶

She came to me at the right time and brings the sunshine to my heart even on my darkest days. She also brings the sass - as is evidenced by her "Sheba Shimmy," and how she will sometimes fight her hardest to pretend she doesn't hear me when I ask her to do something she would rather not do 😂

We're two peas in a pod 🫛 and life would certainly not be the same without her. To my confidante, my therapist, my doggy date who is (mostly) up for anything, my office assistant, and my best little girl - thank you for being mine! Momma loves you, Sheebs!!

It may have been a dreary Sunday morning, but it was still a good day for brunch and connections!

First, Sheba and I enjoyed a walk and brunch at Forsyth Park, in the hopes of stretching our legs and getting an outing in before the rain hit. Mission accomplished - complete with some yummy Mushies on Toast for me 😋

Then, when walking through one of Savannah's beautiful squares, a branch fell out of nowhere and made Sheba and I jump! We weren't the only ones - nearby was someone walking an adorable Shih Tzu and they had the same response. We started chatting and it turns out they were Beth from Joslin Pet Services and one of her sweet clients, Georgie 🐶

What a good connection to make, since clients are always asking me for dog walking recommendations. Beth offers daily dog walks or vacation-sitting in the Savannah/Pooler area and the islands, sitting with anxious dogs while their owners go out, and even assists with nail trims! So if you're ever in need of these services, Beth is happy to help 🙂

LOOK. AT. THIS. FACE!!! Meet Birdy.

This little French Bulldog is living proof that good things come in high-energy packages. While, like many Frenchies, she is currently convinced that the best way to say "hello" is by launching her entire body into orbit and giving your fingers a gentle nibble, she is officially in her "Learning to Chill" era.

Birdy is working on her impulse control. She’s learning to swap her signature "puppy parkour" for calm behavior. It turns out that sitting still gets you even MORE attention, treats and scratches. Who knew?! Progress looks good on her, doesn't it?

So calm and controlled one minute, and then the food bowls come out and the drama begins. 🎭

These two handsome, brilliant brothers operate as siblings often do:
1. Mostly they are best buddies who wrestle, play and love each other's company
2. Then a little sibling rivalry regarding resources takes over - in this case, Westley going into hyper-drive over dinnertime

While Buffett usually keeps his cool, Westley gets a little too worked up about mealtime and can pour it out on Buffett (even though he's the older brother). Today, we worked on bringing down the hype and practicing some calm before feeding time. Less chaos, more zen, same amount of cuteness. 🧘‍♂️🦴

Dog genetics can be fascinating. Exhibit A... Churro!

Take a close look at this face. If you guessed Churro was part German Shepherd or Husky, you might only be getting a fraction of the story! Dog genetics are wild, and they don't always work the way we think.

Here are two mind-blowing facts about dog DNA that explain why our furry friends look and act the way they do:

1️⃣ One litter can have multiple fathers! Yes, really. It’s a natural phenomenon called superfecundation. Because female dogs release multiple eggs over their fertile period, if she mates with more than one male, different fathers can sire different puppies in the exact same litter. This is why littermates can look like entirely different breeds!

2️⃣ The "Low Percentage, High Personality" effect. A dog can inherit a tiny percentage of a specific breed (say, just 10% Chihuahua or German Shepherd) but look exactly like one or have its exact temperament. Why? Because a very small handful of genes control physical traits like ear shape, coat type, and size—and if those specific genes are dominant, they overpower everything else!

A breakfast date this past weekend with my best little girl at one of our favorites, Café M 💛

They have the tastiest matcha, macarons and gluten-free breakfast sandwiches around, and Sheba loves people-watching (and pigeon-watching too!) as we relax on their patio 😎🐶
