What we are witnessing in right now is brutal. The need for help is coming two months earlier than most winters. We have received constant pleas for assistance for dogs left outside, dogs left behind, and residents asking to surrender their dogs due to housing hardships.

We have witnessed dogs on chains in severe temperatures and we are doing our best to get those dogs surrendered AND find room to take them all in.

We don’t usually see this kind of need until January, but this winter November hit hard and December isn’t slowing down.

This is a call to action:
BRING YOUR DOGS INSIDE!

It is too cold for any dog to be left outside for any long period of time.

How can you help? Our shelter is filling up fast and soon we will be relying on our emergency boarding spaces which cost is about $50 per night, per dog.
If you can help with a night of boarding please donate at:

FOSTERS! Mount up! We need ya!
We NEED fosters for medium and large dogs.
We supply all medical care, food, and supplies. We just need you to supply a home and some love.

It’s going to be a brutal winter here in Detroit.
The cold came early, but we don’t quit.
Thank you for your continued compassion and support for the dogs of Detroit.

My Story

My whole life I have been a pet lover. I was raised with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, gerbils and birds. I have also owned many pets as an adult. I currently have a dog named Sydnee and 2 cats, Zelda and Jerome. Because of my love for animals, I decided to foster dogs and cats through an animal rescue. (Jerome is my foster failure) I became interested in taking care of pets after helping my Aunt out with her pet sitting business. I then worked at a local cage free daycare center for dogs. I loved the concept of cage free and having the dogs sleep with me. After working there for about a year I realized that I love working with dogs but not all dogs can handle being in a kennel or cage free center. I decided to start FurKids At Home. Our pets are not only a part of our family but for many they are their kids. I want pets to stay in their home where they are comfortable. Each FurKid has individual needs and I am happy to accomodate those needs. You can feel comfortable knowing your FurKids are taken care of as if they are my own. I post pictures on my page so you can see what we’ve been up to. And you can enjoy seeing them at your convenience. I love my “job” and you can have worry free time away from your FurKids and when you come home, you don’t have to worry about picking them up and they will be stress free, never having to leave their home.
