We want to say Thank you to volunteer Dianna and staff at Merit Kennels for spending time with our dogs kenneled at Merit!

The tan dog is Kya. She loves other dogs, but is skeptical of people. She is not mean or growly; she is just super timid.

Because of her shyness, she can’t really transport to another rescue. The best situation for her would be to find a home where there are other dogs, and there are people who are patient who will let her build her confidence at her own pace.

Please message if interested in meeting Kya!

UGH!
Dakota, one of the dogs we took to PETS this morning, has Heartworms AND BOTH forms of tickborne illness 😠
These are all preventable and PETS helps at low cost! Check out their June special below.

The positive HW test for Dakota means about $400 for treatment and delaying transport for 5 months 😕

We're thrilled to announce our June special offer: FREE Canine Heartworm Tests when you purchase a 12-month supply of preventative. But that's not all – for the entire month, we're also offering half-price testing with no purchase necessary! (Please note that four-way heartworm tests are excluded from this offer.)

Why is this offer so important? In Texas, heartworm disease poses a significant threat to our furry friends, with our state ranking among the highest in heartworm prevalence in the country.

Heartworm disease is FATAL and can be devastating to our furry companions. But the good news is that prevention is easy and affordable! By keeping your pet on heartworm prevention, you're not only safeguarding their health but also preventing other types of worms that can be transmitted to you and your family.

Walk-in Monday from 8am – 12pm and 4pm-7pm, Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday from 9am - 2pm, and Saturday, June 20th, 10-2, for heartworm testing.

Thank you, Shandi, for being our June heartworm testing mascot! See less

I’m sad to share that we have decided to let Ingrid go.
The vet called this morning and the behavior symptoms are worse. She is not responding to treatment.
I am headed to Lubbock to be with her. 😞

Ingrid update:

I spoke to the vet about 4:30p. Ingrid is not better, but not worse. She eats, but is not acting normal.
We’re going to give it a couple more days and see if there is a hopeful change ❤️
