Mark your calendars for Community Giveback Day this Sunday, May 31st at our shelter from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM.

This event is open to all pet families and rescues in need of food, treats, litter, collars, leashes, and toys. Please note that as a shelter our supplies are limited so items will be provided on a first come first serve basis. We kindly ask that as a community of pet lovers we responsibly reserve such supplies for pet families facing food insecurity. Want to help support the event? Please drop any donations at the shelter or at Pet Supplies Plus in Berkeley Heights!

While we love seeing all of your adorable pets we kindly ask that you do not bring them to the giveback event as we are committed to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for all who attend. We hope to see you there!

🌸 Happy Tails 🌸

Seven more happy endings. Seven more hearts filled with joy because animal lovers stepped forward to take a chance on them. When you choose to adopt you not only save that animal's life; you make time, space, and critical funding available for the next animal who is waiting to be rescued. Over 5 million dogs and cats enter shelters across the nation each year. For many, it will sadly be the final stop in their journey. There are animals of all ages, sizes, and breeds waiting for an adopter like YOU to give them the second chance they desperately need. Visit your local animal shelter to adopt your new best friend!

⭐Do you know Sophia's family?⭐

This cat was found in the area of Walnut St in North Plainfield approximately two weeks ago. A good Samaritan took her in and later brought her to H4PHS to check for a microchip. We were pleasantly surprised to find a microchip for sweet miss "Sophia". Unfortunately there was no owner information registered to the chip. We have been in connection with the agency who implanted the chip in July of 2024 but there are no owner records. Please help SOPHIA find her family!

We are so incredibly lucky to have so many pawesome critters in our community! Before you call a service to remove them from your property just remember - they live here too! Did you know that these animals contribute to our ecosystem health and biodiversity? Our animal control team does NOT trap and/or relocate healthy, uninjured wildlife. It not only disrupts our ecological balance, but it also is dangerous to place an animal in unfamiliar territory that may lack necessary shelter or food. Several wildlife conservation studies have shown high mortality rates in relocated animals, even up to 70%! If you see an animal outside that appears injured or sick, keep your distance and contact the local authorities. Please remember not to approach, pet, or feed local wildlife. A bite or a scratch can cost an innocent animal their life! For more information on coexisting with native wildlife please visit the NJ Department of Environmental Protection website and read about how YOU can support wildlife conservation projects 🦨🦝🦊

We would like to extend a very special thank you to the artists at for hosting Saturday's incredible Tattoos for Tails fundraiser. Their team completed over ONE HUNDRED complimentary tattoos for nearly eighty individuals who attended the event with donations. Thanks to the generous community, our animals have extra litter, food, and enrichment items! Diana and her team spent over twelve hours tattooing our donors and did an absolutely incredible job. Thank you to everyone for making this event such a success for the animals!

Looking for the pawfect man but just can't seem to find him? Your search might be over! Turk is the complete package - he's got the looks, the brain, AND the heart to win you over. This cute boy was picked up by our animal control department over a year and a half ago and has been patiently waiting for an adopter ever since. He's a straight A student who has mastered the commands of sit, down and paw. He also has an adventurous spirit and loves to swim, hike, and lounge outside in the warm weather. Turk is searching for an active household where he will be the only pet. When he's good and tired from his outdoor excursions he will gladly cuddle up on the couch with you and even model some doggie clothing. If you are interested in adopting Turk, send Allison an email at [email protected]
