A fox, rabbit, and a duck and her ducklings! What a week!

🦊 A family in Clark reached out about a fox in their area with a piece of a drain pipe stuck around its neck. Marcia went over and put down a trap (tied open) with food and a camera. The family replenished the food every day. After a few days of seeing the fox go into the trap and eat, Marcia set the trap. Sunday night the trap was set and the fox went into the trap!

🐇 As we waited for the fox to go into the trap, we got a message about an injured rabbit in Summit. It had been hit by a car. Summit was on the way to Nancy at The Last Resort Wildlife Refuge where we were taking the fox so we were able to stop by Summit and scoop up the rabbit.

We drove to Nancy with a fox in a trap in the back seat and a rabbit in a box on Kelly’s lap in the front seat.

After Nancy cut the piece of pipe off the fox’s neck, we drove her back to Clark where she was released. Then Marcia took the rabbit to Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital. What a night!

🦆 On Tuesday, Kate, a friend of Kelly’s and a vet, told us about a mom duck and her ducklings that were stuck in the courtyard of a local school. The mom could leave the courtyard but the ducklings could not. There was no access to food or water in the courtyard. Kelly and Kate went over to the school and scooped up the ducklings into a box. We tried to lure the mom duck through the door, across the hallway and out the door of the school. The mom wasn’t interested but she did start flying up to the top of the wall that separated the courtyard from the outside of the school. We took the babies in the box to the other side of the wall and the mom finally figured out they were there. She flew down to the grass and we released the babies from the box. Then they all waddled away, down to the brook behind the school.

Marcia was alerted about a fox in Flemington with a piece of a pipe stuck around it's neck. She set up a camera and feeding station last week and after a couple of days, the fox began eating at the feeding station. A neighbor in Flemington helped with replenishing the food station. On Tuesday, after a few hours of waiting by the trap, the fox went in! The fox was transported to The Last Resort Wildlife Refuge where Nancy removed the piece of pipe in the middle of the night and the fox was returned to Flemington four hours later!

Hunter has been missing since 7/15 and we are not giving up. There have been recent unconfirmed sightings, but unfortunately the people who made the Facebook and Ring posts have not gotten back to us. Please call with any information (even a past sighting that hasn’t been reported).

In rescue, we meet many animals, but Dolly is special.

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to the very talented Julia Maloof Verderosa Photographer for taking these amazing portraits that capture Dolly’s beautiful spirit.

Dolly was a stray, seen walking the same streets in Newark for 2 months before we were contacted. We trapped her late one night and that’s when we met the sweetest, most gentle dog. Dolly is a deaf, senior pittie and we don’t know where she came from or how she ended up on those Newark streets, but we are so happy that she is safe. Dolly is currently being fostered and available for adoption through Brick City Rescue Inc.

Meet Pancho.
Pancho’a owner was deported and Pancho was left behind.

Marcia was put in touch with Pancho’s owner's friends who were caring for him because his owner's immediate family was unable to take him in. After realizing that his owner was gone, Pancho's behavior began to drastically change. He became anxious and the family caring for him found him difficult to manage. They could no longer care for him and they needed help.

Marcia met Pancho who was clearly anxious, but also craved attention. The family caring for him was afraid to pet or get close to him. Pancho had been living in a small area in their basement for the past few months and was only able to be taken outside on leash by one specific family member.

Marcia connected with a local ACO, Valerie, who connected her with a local behavior rehabilitation trainer, Casey Grosjean of The Balanced Dog. Casey agreed to board and train Pancho. Pancho is currently with the Casey, working on building trust and decompressing while he waits for his neuter and grooming appointment.

We are currently raising funds to pay for Pancho’s neuter, vaccinations, grooming and board and train stay. https://gofund.me/649c56f95

Please keep an eye out for Trouble. An irresponsible, dishonest pet sitter lost him and the family is desperate to get him back.

"I feel like I've failed him, and it's the not knowing. It's just horrible," said Meredith Davis, who is searching for her dog 'Trouble.'
