Archie and Katie are here to remind you that September is Responsible Dog Ownership Month!

Life gets busy, but our dogs remind us daily of what really matters. This month and every day, we’re celebrating the little things that make a big difference in your dog’s health and happiness:

❤️ Wellness Care: Check-ups, dental care, and year-round parasite prevention to keep our dogs protected and thriving.

🐶 Identification: Microchips and ID tags help lost pets find their way safely home.

🥏 Exercise, Nutrition & Socialization: Daily walks, a balanced diet, and positive experiences build strong, happy dogs.

🚨 Preparedness: An emergency kit with food, water, medications, and essentials ensures your pup is safe in any situation.

Our dogs give us unconditional love every single day. Let’s give them the very best in return.

👉 Haven’t scheduled your dog’s check-up yet? Consider this your reminder to call us to schedule an appointment today! https://mycommunityveterinaryclinic.com/

Cocoa’s 6-Week Check-In!

This sweet 7-year-old Dutch Shepherd came in for her 6-week follow-up after cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) surgery, a type of orthopedic surgery offered here at Community Vet.

👉 And yes, dogs do have knees! They’re called stifles, and just like people, they can injure the ligaments that keep those joints stable. When that happens, surgery is often needed to restore comfort and mobility.

At Community Veterinary Clinic, we’re proud to offer cranial cruciate ligament repair as part of our surgical services. With over 30 years of surgical experience led by Dr. Current, our team takes pride in the knowledge, safety, and results we bring to every procedure.

Wilson was in for his annual checkup, and Karla worked her magic to turn his frown upside down. Like all of our Community Vet team, Karla uses stress-free techniques to make the vet a place where pets want to visit. Treats, gentle handling, and a whole lotta love are just some of the things we use to help make every one that your cat purrs about!

Cats are masters at hiding illness, which is why regular check-ups, vaccines, and preventive care are so important... even if your cat seems perfectly healthy. From kittenhood through their senior years, each life stage comes with unique needs, and staying on top of care helps your feline friend thrive.

💻 Want to know what your cat needs at every stage of life? Check out our guide by clicking the link below!

Because at Community Veterinary Clinic, we turn frowns upside down with care that keeps pets healthier, happier, and by your side longer.

Keeping pets healthy begins with prevention … not waiting to react. At Community Veterinary Clinic, we preach prevention first. While some illnesses and injuries can’t be avoided, many can, and we’ve seen firsthand how preventive care can keep pets healthier, happier, and living longer. Preven...

Sweet Squeaks had a big day! She came in for her vaccines and heartworm prevention, and we also talked about planning her spay.

While summer is winding down, mosquitoes don’t take the fall off in Central Ohio. Since mosquitoes spread heartworm disease, the risk remains even when the weather cools. That’s why year-round prevention is so important for keeping dogs like Squeaks safe.

King Taghi may run the castle, but Karla made sure he stayed healthy with his vaccines and, of course, lots of cuddles!

At Community Veterinary Clinic, we know that keeping pets up-to-date on vaccines and wellness visits is one of the most important ways to protect their long-term health. But we also understand that cost can sometimes feel like a barrier.

That’s why we created Maintenance Mondays here at our Plain City location, offering vaccines and basic diagnostics starting at just $15 each, plus a low exam fee. It’s our way of making preventive care accessible to every pet in our community, because every pet deserves to live healthy, happy, and fit for the throne.

📅 Available every Monday, 9 AM – 5:45 PM
📍 Available only at our Plain City location

September is National Service Dog Month!

Meet Jasmine, a 3-year-old Doberman, who's a training service dog for her caregiver.

We feel so privileged to care for pups like Jasmine, who are destined to play such an incredible role in someone’s life. Service dogs don’t just provide companionship. From guiding and alerting to protecting and comforting, service dogs empower their owners to live fuller, safer, and more independent lives.

Here are just a few roles that service dogs play for their caregivers: guide dogs, hearing dogs, mobility assistance dogs, medical alert dogs, psychiatric service dogs, allergen detection dogs, and autism support dogs.

Here’s to Jasmine and all the hardworking service dogs (and their trainers!) who change lives every day.

Who's the bravest boy!? Roger!

With Amber by his side, Roger came through both a neuter and hernia repair like a champ. Of course, he got plenty of cuddles to help with recovery.

Happy International Dog Day!

Some dogs are walking buddies. Some are couch companions. Some are protectors, playmates, or the reason we laugh out loud on even the hardest days. No matter their role, dogs have a way of filling our lives with loyalty, joy, and love that asks for nothing in return.

They grow with our families, walk beside us through change, and remind us every single day of what it means to be present.

So today, we celebrate them all. The silly ones. The stubborn ones. The brave, gentle, loyal, endlessly loving ones. Pictured are just a few of the pups we are proud to care for here at Community Veterinary Clinic Plain City!

If you’re lucky enough to share your life with a dog, give them an extra treat and a little more time today. They deserve it.

Read this article about the concerning trends we're seeing in our area. Thank you Dr. Hurley for helping spread awareness!

SIDNEY — The Community Veterinary Clinic has seen an increase in patients with canine parvovirus at their Sidney, Piqua and Troy clinics and want to educate dog owners about how to prevent it.

Meet Gilbert. This handsome guy came in for his wellness exam and decided to stay for the CHEESE! He was such a good boy during his visit with us!

Wellness visits aren’t just about treats (though Gilbert might disagree 😉), they’re about keeping pets healthy year-round. These visits help us to keep vaccines up to date, catch potential health concerns early, and focus on prevention over reaction!

Most importantly, wellness visits help to build a bond between your pet and our veterinary team. We want your pet's visit with us to be as stress-free as possible, so we incorporate your pet's favorite treats, toys, and a gentle, compassionate approach to make every visit to Community Veterinary Clinic a positive one!

There’s nothing like the joy of welcoming a new furry family member. This sweet kitty came in for a complete wellness check, including a physical exam, microchip scan, flea check, and vaccinations to make sure they’re healthy, protected, and ready for a happy life with their forever family.

We believe those first visits are about more than just medicine. They’re about building trust, providing reassurance, and setting pets (and their people) up for a lifetime of health and comfort.
