🐾 Pet of the Week with Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh: Meet Lua! 🐾

Looking for a furry friend who’s past the puppy phase but still full of playful energy? Meet Lua, a sweet and spirited girl just shy of 2 years old!

Lua has the cutest face and the biggest heart. She came to HARP underweight, but she’s been filling out nicely, and will be the perfect cuddle buddy this winter.

The shelter environment has been stressful for her, so she’s ready to find a home where she can truly relax and shine! Lua has been on several field trips and always earns rave reviews. She loves tennis balls, snuffle mats, tug-of-war, and exploring the world on walks.

Lua is still building her confidence around other dogs, so she’d do best as the only pup in the home for now—but she might enjoy doggy playdates in the future! HARP is not sure how she feels about cats or small children yet, but one thing’s for sure: she adores her human friends.

We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of The Dog Stop Cincinnati Central, our very first location in the Queen City! 🎉

Led by local owner Mary Beth Schutter, this state-of-the-art facility is designed with every dog in mind — from energetic pups to those needing a little extra care and calm. Following Fear Free® principles, the team will focus on creating a safe, enriching, and stress-free environment for all dogs.

Join us for our Open House and Ribbon Cutting with the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, November 8, from 12–2 p.m. at 5164 Kennedy Ave. Enjoy facility tours, raffles (including a chance to win a year of free daycare!), and a special nod to local history with the original MadTree Brewery beer truck on site.

We were bred from the beginning to be Pittsburgh's best all-inclusive indoor/outdoor dog care facility. The Dog Stop® opened its doors in 2009 after owners Jesse Coslov and Chris Kane spent several years researching the pet care industry, surveying the needs of local pet owners and planning an all-inclusive facility. Their goal is to create a fun and safe environment where dogs would love to come and play, and pet owners would feel 100% confident in the superior care that their dogs were receiving. Everyone needs a mission, so as the first pups were entering the doors, Jesse and Chris made a commitment to their vision for the service. Today that mission and our commitment at both locations remain the same: To deliver a superior experience for the dog and his or her whole family by providing a safe environment, offering educational opportunities, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our clients and their pet companions, instilling complete peace of mind for those we serve—and to earn their trust every day! Our facilities cater to letting dogs do what they do – whether it’s running in our backyards, playing with friends, or just lounging around. Pups who enjoy daily playtime and physical activity are better adjusted, less stressed, healthier and happier – so we focus on lots of exercise and playtime for every pup. Our trained canine companions are fully prepared for belly scratches, hugs ‘n kisses, and launching chew toys for all our visiting pups, ensuring that each visit to The Dog Stop® is a pawsitively perfect experience.
