We had a good time hunting yesterday.
It was very tricky but we managed to knock off 10.
After a couple major changes as well as making the environment more hostile I think this property owner will see a big difference for the better. The rats were really comfortable and we seen them just walking about every time we would settle the dogs and peek in a barn. Start the dogs back up and the rats slipped away under the concrete barn stalls.
My biggest piece of advice for people having rat issues is do not have anything in direct contact with the ground.
- Building materials as well as extra odds & ends need to be stacked on skids (not pallets) at least 6” off the ground. That way you can clean out debris easily with a stick or broom.
- Chicken coops are your worst enemy. These need raised off the ground at least 10’. Ideally more, 12 - 18”. If you’re worried about wind, make some easily removable panels for the side that takes the wind.
The dogs were a bit over zealous with dispatching so no photo with the rats to appease the meta machine.
