Tank and Alyssa met in 2016 when he showed up on her porch and refused to leave. She immediately bonded with this sweet boy and after he needed emergency heart surgery, they quickly became inseparable and have been thick as thieves for the last 8+ years.

In November of last year Tank began to have seizure-like episodes and Biggie’s was able to support him and Alyssa through the scary ordeal of diagnosing and treating his condition!

From Alyssa: “With support from Biggie’s, being able to fully focus on Tank’s treatment and recovery has been such a blessing. Hey Yinz, Biggies Board here. We just wanted to take a moment to check-in with all of our supporters to give an update on what’s been going on these past few months at Biggies Bullies.

As you know, we’re a super small team. We’ve been navigating personal shifts, economic changes that affect the rescue, and so much more. That doesn’t mean that Biggies Bullies means any less to any of is, just that we’ve had to make changes to how we see the future of our lil rescue.

Our team has decided that, at least for now, we are stopping intakes. Instead, we are shifting our focus to pet retention. We have always believed that beloved pets should get to stay in their own homes, but now are going to solely focus our efforts on that mission. By providing support through food donations, veterinary bills, and positive reinforcement training, we know that we can make a big difference for pet owners in Pittsburgh.

We hope you’ll continue to support us! While we won’t be at some of the larger events you’re used to seeing us at - like Beerfest - we’re still here! Keep an eye on our social media over the next few weeks to learn how you can support pet retention. We are excited for this next chapter of Biggies Bullies. See yinz soon. ❤️

Rescues helping rescues is our favorite 🫶🏻

🎉THANK YOU, EVERYONE! 🎉

Where to begin?! Thank you just doesn’t begin to express how grateful we are for all of you. We reached our fundraising goal in ONE DAY to get our furnace replaced! From monetary donations, to supplies, to physically working on the furnace, to words of encouragement, our community stepped up for us when we needed it most! 🖤

We are not over the finish line yet but we can now take care of this problem ASAP and ensure our building’s safety and warmth for the rest of the winter. ❄️

We appreciate each and every one of you for taking time out of your day to check on us, drop off supplies and share our fundraiser.

We almost had to share that Deluca has officially been a Biggies Bullies adoptable for TWO years, buuuuut, saved by the bell, or rather, best family ever.

We still don’t understand why it took so long, but Deluca finally entered an adoption trial a few weeks ago. As you can see, he ain’t goin’ nowhere now!

This happy story wouldn’t be possible without Deluca’s incredible foster dad, Andrew. He devoted so much time and love to Deluca while we waited for the perfect adopter. It’s truly volunteers like Andrew that make what we do at Biggies possible. So, please show some love for Andrew! 🥰 Congrats Luca and fam!!

🥶❄️ A reminder from Pittsburgh Animal Care & Control that it is against the law (633.23) to leave a dog, no matter the breed, outside unsupervised longer than 30 minutes when the temperature dips below 32 degrees, including the wind chill factor.

AC&C will respond to calls for dogs left in the cold. For normal business days and hours, call 412-255-2036 between 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Friday. On holidays and weekends, call 9-1-1 and the call will be routed to an AC&C officer.

Please keep your dogs safe this winter season!

Little Chicken Fry enjoyed a week of camping with her foster fam and boy was she a pro at it. From rolling in the dirt, to using camp chairs properly, she’s gonna make the best camping buddy for someone. This little girl is putting on the pounds finally and starting to look like a healthy dog. She’s gonna be ready for adoption in no time — keep an eye out for her!
