Pitman Animal Hospital is looking for a dependable, hardworking Kennel Assistant to join our team for an evening position.

This is an entry-level support position that plays an important role in keeping our hospital clean, stocked, organized, and ready for the next day. While you’ll have opportunities to work around animals and assist our veterinary technicians, a large part of this position involves cleaning and maintaining the hospital.

Important: Applicants must be at least 18 years old. This is an evening position, and the Kennel Assistant will be responsible for completing closing cleaning duties independently after the rest of the team has left for the evening.

What You’ll Do

Hours are 4pm-close Mon-Fri and every 3rd Saturday 8am-1pm. Actual finish time is dependent on work that is completed each day.

Pay depends on experience but ranges from $16.50-$18/hr

Clean and disinfect exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, cages, and other areas of the hospital.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, take out trash, and perform general cleaning throughout the hospital.

Wash, dry, fold, and put away hospital laundry.

Clean and maintain dishes, bowls, and other hospital items.

Restock supplies throughout the hospital.

Keep storage and work areas clean and organized.

Assist veterinary technicians with basic tasks as needed.

Help safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations, treatments, and procedures when requested.

Complete end-of-day cleaning and closing responsibilities.

Make sure designated areas of the hospital are clean, stocked, and ready for the following day.

What We’re Looking For

The right person for this position is someone who:

*Is at least 18 years old
*Is dependable and punctual
*Is comfortable working independently
*Is comfortable being around and handling both dogs and cats
*Is willing to clean — cleaning is a major part of this position
*Pays attention to detail and takes pride in doing a job thoroughly
*Can follow instructions and established hospital procedures
*Is comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary hospital
*Can be trusted to complete responsibilities without constant supervision
*Is willing to jump in and help the team wherever needed
*Is comfortable being on their feet and performing physical tasks throughout the shift
*Previous veterinary experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person. Reliability, maturity, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic are more important to us than previous experience.

About the Position

This is an evening role at Pitman Animal Hospital. During the earlier portion of the shift, the Kennel Assistant works alongside our veterinary team and helps keep the hospital running smoothly. As the hospital closes for the evening, the focus shifts to cleaning, restocking, and preparing the building for the following day.

Because this employee will spend a portion of the evening working independently in the hospital, we are specifically looking for someone mature, responsible, and comfortable working on their own.

If you enjoy working around animals, don't mind getting your hands dirty, and like the satisfaction of leaving things clean, organized, and ready to go, we'd love to hear from you.
