A simple moment captured during blackcap season. There's beauty in the smallest things.

Fall is a time of preparation. Winter is coming, and for farmers we have a lot to do before the snow flys. But we also need to take a moment to pause and enjoy the beauty of it all.

We are in that dangerous time of year where sugar in the grass spikes, temperature swings impacting your horses the water consumption, and suddenly horses are at risk of laminitis, founder, colic, or popping an abcess right before your last big ride of the season.

What do you do to help control the risks? Limited turn out on grass? Grazing muzzle? Electrolytes and free choice salt?

There is no magic one answer for all horses, so we'd like to hear what works for your guys.

Any special hacks for seasonal transitions?

When you find the biggest creature on the farm and make firends with them, the world's your oyster.

Fall sunrises are incredible, no matter when you catch them.

We tried a few combinations this summer, trying to find the perfect paring, and found that these two special needs ponies are the perfect buddies.
Chickie is elderly and has Cushings Disease while Cricket is about 20 years old and is 100% blind due to chronic uveitis prior to coming to live with us.
Do you have a special senior horse in your life?

Sebastian has joined our flock. He is a Scottish Blackface, and will be crossed with our ewes for the 2027 lambing.

Sometimes life throws a curveball and your pony has a reaction to the new bedding in the trailer.
August came off the trailer, and it was clear once L tacked up that he was having a flareup and the best thing to do was to scratch.
L did it without complaint, just wanting what was best for her pony.
I was able to Frankenstein tack we had in the trailer to get the Inky Dinky on Shadow. She ride the Equitation pattern at a walk, but she got to ride. Two months ago I wouldn't have even thought this was possible, but both have grown so much.

We were packing up and heading home, and accidentally won the bid on this guy. Ops!
Can't say I'm mad.
Welcome to the farm Friday!
He's a 4 year old Morgan, who's had amazing manners for a 4 year old in QT for the last few weeks. He's still definitely 4, but he rides and drives.
I am excited to see what we can do with him.
