We wish a fond farewell to Suzy Brennan, my stepmother. She devoted her senior years to adopting senior dogs who had lost their family. This picture is of Suzy, Suzy’s beloved granddaughter, and Nellie. Nellie was pulled from a high kill shelter by Hodgepodge. She arrived in Maryland in terrible shape, mourning the loss of her pet momma, having suffered a lonely and frightening stint in a high kill shelter, and a long van ride to Maryland. After a brief stay in foster care with us, Suzy adopted her, and she had an amazing second chapter. I would argue that few dogs have been so loved.

We're a locally-owned premium holistic pet food store located in Paper Mill Village in Jacksonville, Maryland (use 3336 Paper Mill Rd, Phoenix, MD for GPS). We partner with devoted pet parents like you to provide the best possible care for your dog, cat, bird, or small animal. Our focus is on providing food, treats, and supplements that are healthy and biologically appropriate, and are produced in an ecologically sustainable, and socially responsible manner. We also carry unique toys, leashes, collars, and other accessories. If you can find a product in a big box store, chances are you won't see it at Scratch and Sniff! Whenever possible, we seek partnerships with smaller family owned businesses, with an emphasis on transparent sourcing and carefully controlled production. We seek out local partners as well, especially for treats and accessories. Let us help you bring joy and health to your beloved fur babies!
