We saw 2 of these in one day! 🫠

Foxtails: Dangerous, barbed seed pods that can embed in a pet's skin, ears, nose, eyes, or mouth, causing severe infections or injury. Prevent them by avoiding overgrown, dry grass, checking pets thoroughly after every walk, and grooming frequently.

Today, we removed an embedded foxtail from an eyelid. (see picture on the right)

Key Prevention and Safety Measures
Daily Inspections: After every walk or hike, check your pet’s paw pads, between toes, ears, armpits, and groin.
Avoid High-Risk Areas: Stay on designated, well-maintained paths and avoid fields with tall, brown, dried-out grass during late spring and summer.
Yard Maintenance: Remove any foxtail grasses from your property.

Signs of a Foxtail Imbedding
Eye Issues: Squinting, rubbing, or swelling of the eye.
Paw Issues: Excessive licking/chewing of paws or limping.
Head/Ear Issues: Sudden head shaking, tilting, or scratching at the ears.
Nasal Issues: Sneezing, wheezing, or nasal discharge.
Skin Issues: Small, painful lumps or abscesses that appear quickly.
If you suspect a foxtail has embedded, seek veterinary care immediately, as these seeds do not disintegrate and can migrate.

Stay safe, friends!

Thank you both for all you do!

It’s Veterinary Receptionist Week, and we’re celebrating the people who keep the day moving and the practice humming—starting with that first “Good morning!” and ending with the final checkout.

Thank you for showing up for every wagging tail, worried pet parent, midday phone frenzy, scheduling shuffle and last-minute records update. We’re so thankful for vet receptionists!

We would take them all if we could! 😍

Today we had a special appearance at our office. Singer-song writer Gavin DeGraw brought his furry companion Buddy in for a visit. We made the joke that Gavin was meeting Gavin! He was an absolute pleasure to meet. ☺️
