In celebration of Dr Katie Andre’s life, we’re holding a Memorial Service on January 15th at 10:00 am. It will be at Phoenix Mortuary at 400 W Beardsley in Phoenix.

Because her life’s work was about keeping things alive - both furbies and plants - we ask in lieu of cut flowers, donations be made in her name to a reputable animal rescue, or bring a weird live plant!

To celebrate a rule-breaker, please feel free to honor her in the manner you see fit: plant a tree, foster a cat or dog, wear tie-dye, share stories - whatever reminds you of her.

Katie was, at heart, just an old hippie chick who loved her work, her family, her friends, music, creating and crafting, outdoors, and plants.

And we are still a much dimmer world without her in it.

As you may have heard, Bethany Animal Hospital lost the one who made our hospital tick for the last 23 years - Doctor Katharine Andre, DVM, or Dr. Katie to most of us. Her generosity, compassion, and excellent care have left an unfathomable void for her family, staff, friends, and clients. While she has struggled with health issues over the last few years, the suddenness of a car accident on her way to work has left us reeling.

Because she cared so very deeply in continuing the mission of her hospital, Dr. Katie did have contingency plans and we are working to put them in effect. She vetted the doctors - in her exacting way - to ensure your furbies continue to receive the quality care you have come to expect. Given the sudden need to implement and expedite this transition, please bear with us as we navigate the next few days and weeks.

Doctors Hugh Giffords and Lara Sosnow are pro-rescue, anti-corporate, and the highly talented owners of Phoenix Dog, Cat, and Bird, Faust, Sun City West, and Sun Valley Hope Animal Hospitals. Dr. Katie and Dr. Giffords have consulted on numerous cases and their professional respect is mutual. With some upgrades planned, and the anticipated construction mess, please reach out to any of these hospitals if your furby needs care before re-opening.

As a continuation of Dr. Katie’s legacy of animal care at Bethany Animal Hospital, we could not be more excited at this outcome. The next chapter of BAH’s almost 65 year tenure looks bright and we’re here for it!

Fly high, Dr. Katie, and we hope to make you proud of where your hospital is going for the animals. Your stop at the Rainbow Bridge must have been breathtaking but it was way too soon 🐶🐱🌈

We provide safe places to leave "abandoned" unwanted human infants and people still leave them in dumpsters rather than at a church, fire station, police station, etc. How can we possible consider ourselves
superior beings in any way?

As we’re getting caught up, it’s come to our attention Google lists us as closed! It appears our listing has been hijacked and we’re working to fix it. We are here and busier than ever! Thank you for your patience as we work to serve you and your furbies while keeping us all healthy 🐶🐱👩‍🔬

We want to sincerely apologize for having been seemingly AWOL - a nasty bug (no, not covid!) made it’s way through our staff! (and when I say through, I mean through, if you know what I mean!) It got us quickly and left no time for notices. We are so very sorry for the inconveniences this has caused but want to ensure that you, the staff, and the hospital, are safe when we return. At this time, we are hoping to begin ramping back up in a couple of days and at full speed in a week-ish. With the abundance of caution in this environment, we are being careful to not rush back and make ourselves sick again. Thank you for your patience as we clear up the backlog and, please!, wear a mask and stay safe!!
