Today is the last official day of business operations for Pawsitive Vibes Only. I am full of a lot of feelings but if I had to pick three - gratitude, peace and exhaustion.
Heavy on the tiredness, lol.

What began as a side hustle to make some extra cash since the beer industry was shifting into relative oblivion ended up becoming the foundation upon which I laid ✨the rest of my life.✨ Although the business is closing, the value system that I built for myself and for my family through its operation is perhaps the best gift I have ever received.

Do you have a moment in your life when you remember specifically thinking that you were “OFFICIALLY” an adult? Like, YOU were the adult in the room and you couldn’t call your Mom or a friend? Mine was when I was standing in the ER on 11/7/22, my husband half-dead on the hospital bed with tubes in his throat and I *technically didn’t have a job.* I had quit Stickman Brews just twelve days prior to focus on the business full time. We were living with family. He carried our health insurance. There was something so, so surreal about those moments - standing amidst the chaos of that morning, his medical team buzzing around me in fast forward trying to save his life, and me with the rising tingling sensation in my toes that no matter which way this went, we were kind of fu**ed.

Please don’t misunderstand me - sometimes, the most AMAZING transformations come out of those moments of intense “uh oh.” That is exactly what happened to us. Over the course of roughly the next two and a half years, the universe would systemically break down our entire life and everything we knew about it to help us find something better for ourselves.

(Cont’d in comments because I am a long-winded bitch!)…

I think I started petsitting when I was about 11 years old. I would watch the animals of our backyard neighbors, who also owned Abby - a yellow lab, and my first dog friend.

Always a side hustler, although I maintained full time careers in corporate marketing, radio, and the craft beer industry, petsitting has been one of the longest and most steadfast relationships of my entire life.

In 2021, I decided to turn the side hustle into a business. I filed LLC paperwork, had a friend help me build a website, hired an account and wrote a service contract. was born, and I could never, ever have imagined what a beautiful, wild, life-changing adventure it would become.

The adventure must change, though. Three and a half years ago, the world and MY world looked very different. As time passed, I kept hitting roadblocks and finally at the beginning of this year, I reached one that I just couldn’t get past. This economic climate is pretty unforgiving, and it’s just no longer financially sustainable to continue.

Clients, I am eternally grateful for your support over the past few years. Thank you so much. Family and friends, thank you for your words of encouragement, patience as a fumbled my way through the world of entrepreneurship, and love.

Active roster clients, you will find more information in your Time To Pet portal messages. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

And remember, keep it pawsitive.

That’s a wrap on Mr. Bob!

After two years with PVO, we will soon be saying our farewells to everyone’s favorite dog wrangler. Bob has gotten a very exciting job opportunity, and is returning to his career in operations management in the hospitality industry. His last day will be Saturday, February 8th.

Although I am sure he will pop his head in here and there to help out in a pinch, it is definitely the end of an era for the company and for our family.

Bob joined PVO full-time in late February of 2023 during a very uncertain time in our life and we both feel so thankful and appreciative to our clients for bonding with him and giving him two years of hijinx, hilarity and adventure.

Active clients received an email this morning regarding any immediate changes to services as well as long-term scheduling and availability changes as we reduce our client load from 2 full-time walkers to 1 (me). Clients who see me *only* as their walker will not be affected by his departure.

This will definitely be quite the transition for us as we move into our next phase of our life, so we appreciate your patience. In the meantime, please give him a farewell fist bump if you see him. He is also accepting licks and kisses, although those should probably come from the dogs. 😂

This week was exceptionally heavy, wasn’t it? We felt it in our conversations with friends and family. We saw it in the distracted behavior of the collective, folks with their heads buried in their phones on the sidewalks and in their cars (!!). The news headlines were overwhelming to see. Everything, everywhere, all at once type stuff.

I think a lot of us are feeling grief. I’d like to talk about that, because pet grief is a special type of hell. When we lost Piglett in May of last year, it felt like someone shot out my kneecaps. She seemed so youthful, her life so far from over - but there we were, watching the life leave her eyes on the cold linoleum floor of Blue Pearl in Conshohocken.

When we told people, everyone was so supportive and kind. “Pet grief is a living hell.” “It’s the worst feeling in the world.” “I am so sorry, I am here for you.” Solidarity.

Grief is a unifier. So many different people, so many walks of life, tax brackets, races and religions remembering the times they had to hold lifeless paws on vet office floors, their hearts ripped out of their chests.

This is heavy. It’s okay to feel it. Pawsitive Vibes Only has always been a place of inclusion - a safe place for everyone and it will remain that way. We stand as firmly as we can with our friends in marginalized communities as we do with our Constitution. It will be a cold day in Hell when I am not loud and annoying about our civil rights. I am an American, I built this business in this country and I will be here to celebrate better days ahead. They are coming.

Because you know what else is a unifier? Joy.

To our tribe with the most pawsitive of vibes,

We wanted to take a brief moment to send you all the biggest wishes of love, joy and peace this Christmas. You have all truly spoiled us and made us feel so appreciated this holiday season, and we are so infinitely grateful for all of you and the love and joy you and your pets bring to OUR lives.

This year, our first Christmas after losing Piglett unexpectedly in May, we chose to donate on behalf of our clients to . It’s an incredible organization where I got my start in rescue, and where we once picked up a tiny terror of a little pittie nine years ago. Without PAWS, we might not be here today.

Looking forward to making lots more hilarious memories and having plenty more fun adventures in 2025.

Please enjoy Phantom’s holiday photo from doggy daycare. He was a good sport.

Sending you all so much love,
Erin and Bob
