National Greyhound Adoption Program

National Greyhound Adoption Program Let a greyhound race into your heart... adopt one! www.ngap.org NGAP is an independent, non-profit organization registered in the state of Pennsylvania.

It is a federally designated 501(c)3 corporation. We are funded by adoption fees, fund raising events, car donations and various donations of other kinds. All donations are tax deductible. NGAP has no affiliation with any greyhound track or any other organization and prides itself on being a strong national advocate for greyhounds. We have participated in both national exposes and legislative init

iatives to help these 'greyt' dogs. Since the closing of the Florida tracks, we have switched our focus to helping salukis, saluki mixes, wadi dogs and other sighthounds from the Middle East. Thank you for your interest in National Greyhound Adoption Program.

Gentle Jiri is looking for his forever family! This big fluffy guy is shy at first but he truly loves being around people and is waiting for a person or family who will show him the love and patience he needs to open up. His favorite activities include hanging out in the garden, rolling in the clovers, relaxing around a fire pit, taking a stroll around the block, or chewing a bully stick while you watch TV. He mostly just wants to be wherever his people are. He doesn't always want to be petted and mainly shows affection by sitting nearby and staring lovingly at you, but when he's comfortable he does enjoy getting his soft fluffy ears rubbed! He's got great manners, walks very nicely, is fully housetrained, and has been learning some tricks to impress his future family!

Jiri started life in the desert of Qatar. He was adopted from NGAP previously, but due to his large size and anxious body language, he was returned. He can “whale eye” and get tense when approached, but has not shown any reactivity. (Basically his vibes are feral and his aura is weird but he's really just a good, chill dog.) He is currently thriving in a foster home, getting healthy and building his confidence. With some patience and a little treat bribery, it didn't take him long to settle in and now he even allows strangers to pet him. He's learning to love car rides and trips to the park, both exciting new experiences for him. We would love to see him continue having healthy enrichment activities in his forever home. He is a low-to-medium-energy dog and doesn't need long hikes or intense workouts, just some stimulation to keep his confidence growing.

Currently Jiri lives peacefully with one large dog, one small dog, and several cats. He communicates appropriately with the other dogs and accepts their corrections without issue, but typically does not engage much in socializing with them. He would be fine as an only dog or could live with a low-key dog who would respect his space. He is very respectful of the cats (he knows they're in charge!) and we think he might do well with other types of pets with appropriate introductions. We do not think he should live with children due to his sensitive personality.

Jiri is a saluki/village dog mix born in November 2020 and weighs about 65lbs. He requires a fenced in yard (no invisible fences please). He happily takes daily medication for low thyroid (it's very cheap!) but is otherwise healthy, neutered, up to date on shots and parasite preventatives, and recently had a full dental cleaning. He is currently being fostered outside of Philadelphia in Coatesville PA.

KADIN
Saluki
Size: 50lbs
DOB: 10/01/2023
Male neutered.
NO CATS.
Dog friendly.

Kadin is a gorgeous, lively boy with a heart full of love and fun! While he can be a little leery of new people at first, his affectionate and playful side shines through once he feels comfortable.

He keeps his crate clean and is a good boy indoors, but he could use some extra love (and food!) to fatten up a bit. Kadin has a spirited streak and loves to bark at and chase cars, so he would thrive best in a rural setting or a quieter neighborhood with less traffic. He is not cat-friendly, so a home without feline friends would be ideal.

This energetic boy is looking for a loving home where he can safely burn off his zest for life and shower his family with affection.
