Well , good morning and happy Friday! Here is an update on me for those of you that asked.
I went in for surgery at 5 am yesterday and haven’t slept since I woke up from anesthesia. Ugh.
The surgery went very well and I’m not in near as much pain as I anticipated. Along with stabilizing that area to protect my spinal cord from further damage, he removed some bone spurs that were pinching nerves and I am very hopeful that will give me some relief in my shoulders and arms! However, every time I nod off, I wake up unable to exhale through my nose. The best way I can describe it is the flapper that makes us snore gets stuck shut! It sounds comical but causes me to panic and wake up. For Pete’s sake, I could exhale through my mouth, but I guess my body isn’t thinking of that! It may be because I’ve been trying to sleep flat. So, I’ll try propping up next.
The pain meds also keep me awake, so I’m going to skip my next dose and see if I can sleep. My incision is super sore and swollen, so I’ve been icing it. That is not something I dealt with last neck surgery either.
I decided to come out and watch the sun come up here in Tehachapi. It’s where MOP was started. I’m at my mom’s for the next week to give me a head start on healing. I want to say thank you to her and to everyone that has come forward to help me take care of the animals during this time. I am so blessed.
Speaking of blessed, yesterday right before I was wheeled into surgery, my surgeon came to talk to me. He asked if I was nervous and I said “No, just not looking forward to recovering.”
He then came and sat next to me, took my hand and asked if he could pray. He prayed for me and my healing as well as his hands to be guided by the Father. It was so beautiful and a moment I will never forget. How many surgeons do that?!
God is good, all the time!
Love you all and I’ll update again soon!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
