It’s Dogust, the official birthday month for shelter dogs—and we’re partying all month long with free dog adoptions and spotlights on some of our most lovable pups!

Today’s birthday boy is T. Rexx, and he’s bringing all the sunshine and skate-park vibes with him. 🌞

It’s Dogust, and we’re celebrating with free dog adoptions all month long—plus birthday wishes for some of our most lovable residents! Today’s birthday boy? The one and only Cowboy, who has captured the hearts of both staff and volunteers alike. 💛

“Cowboy has all-knowing eyes and a happy twirl that’ll charm anyone. He’s got a goofy, giddy-up personality and dreams of a big yard over yonder to let his zoomies run free.

On walks, he might do a few circles (watch your ankles!), and he lives for butt scratches and cuddle time. He’s a good boy who doesn’t understand why he’s still in a kennel—he just wants someone to love.”

“Cowboy is the kind of introvert who warms up slow, but once he’s bonded with you, you’re his best friend. One time, he even came back to check on a volunteer who fell during their walk. That tiny tail wag of his? It’ll steal your heart.”

This Dogust, we’re celebrating the amazing shelter dogs at Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services all month long—and today’s spotlight is on Peppercorn, a sweet pup with a heart full of love (and maybe just a little sass). 💖

💌 Here’s what volunteer Yvette had to say after spending time with her:

“Peppercorn is such a happy, loving dog! She came on a little joyride with me and got to hang out at my house for a bit. She was so well-behaved and sweet—it was honestly hard to bring her back.

Her birthday wish? A home where she’s truly loved. She’d thrive in a quieter home where she can soak up all the attention and be someone’s one-and-only. She’s playful, sweet, and full of love to give.

If Peppercorn were a person, she’d be your best friend—the one who’s always there for you, always ready with affection and loyalty.”

❤️ From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Pflugerville ISD third graders for your wonderful donation of over $6,700!! Through PfISD's Market Days event held back in May, elementary schoolers from Murchison, Highland Park, Carpenter, Caldwell, Timmerman, and Spring Hill Elementary Schools were able to donate a sizeable amount to FoPAS, allowing us to pay for lifesaving medical surgeries, enrichment materials, and more for the homeless pet population at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter. We want to say thank you so much to everyone involved!

PAWS Care Tech Supervisor Chandler shared this special birthday card for him:

“Barley has the silliest ears and a calm, kind personality. We love eating breakfast together—he’s such a gentle companion. If he could make a birthday wish, it’d be not to spend his golden years at the shelter. He’s house trained, enjoys naps on soft beds, and gets along with other dogs.”
