Our next CGC testing day is Saturday, 2/28/26 at 1 pm. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to testing.
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is a certification from the American Kennel Club (AKC) that recognizes basic good manners for dogs and responsible pet ownership for their owners.
At K-9 Companions, we offer CGC testing by appointment for clients as well as non-clients.
No charge for clients, $50 for non-clients.
What Is CGC?
The Canine Good Citizen program promotes responsible pet ownership and good dog manners by recognizing dogs that can pass the following 10-step test:
* Accepting a friendly stranger
* Sitting politely while being petted
* Appearance and grooming
* Walking on a leash
* Walking through a crowd
* “Sit” and “Down” on command and staying in place
* Coming when called
* Reacting to another dog
* Reacting to distraction
* Supervised separation
