Dear Anam Cara Customers and Ragdoll Lovers,
I waited several months to post this in hopes that there would be a resolution forthcoming. However, it’s come to the point now where I must send out the information so that everyone is aware of what TICA is doing with Ragdoll registrations.
But first a short history on Ragdolls. Originally Ragdolls were created by Ann Baker here in Riverside. Ann started the Ragdoll breed by Breeding mostly free roaming cats in her neighborhood. Josephine, was an all white green eyed cat, who had an amazing temperament, and so Ann began her breeding program very humbly. After years of carefully breeding just the right temperament she created what we know and love as the Ragdoll breed. Over the years there has been some debate on markings or colors, but all have been widely accepted as Ragdolls by TICA and all other reputable registries.
Unfortunately, there are always the snooty breeders who believe that the breed should only be one specific way. After much pressure and manipulation these breeders used an antiquated TICA system to divide the Ragdoll breed. So there are now Ragdolls, which are only specific markings and colors and Ragdoll Cherubims which are other markings and colors. Let me be clear that all of these Ragdolls are from the same exact original lines and have no business being split. Cherubim Ragdolls are no less Ragdoll than any other Ragdoll. Their lines and temperaments are exactly the same. If snooty breeders had followed their own guidelines, that means every Ragdoll would be a Cherubim Ragdoll. Let me explain further.
The snooty breeders believe that if there is any color deviating from what they think is appropriate, then your kitten or cat would automatically be a Cherubim Ragdoll through them. (It’s important to point out that the rest of the registries have not done this.) Except when you go back in the lines far enough, every Ragdoll has those colors in them. Every. Single. One. 
So why does this matter? Well, TICA took it upon itself to change the registries of every Ragdoll retroactively. This was not approved nor, in my opinion, is it legal. Originally when these decisions were being made, they had said they would be registering any kittens born after 2025 as Cherubim Ragdolls. There was no mention of changing the registries of existing Ragdolls to Cherubim Ragdolls. So there will inevitably be a class action lawsuit against TICA. Until then, some of our kitties will be registered as Ragdolls while others will be registered as Cherubim Ragdolls.
