Cahaba Spay Neuter

Happy Friday everyone!

It was a light week over here, but we had some interesting moments, including a special visitor! Check out the picture of our buddy Sonic, a little 2 month old male cat that was hiding under a car in the parking lot, walked into the clinic from the street, and is now going home with one of our staff!

Our impact graphic is also attached. 116 animals this week with a lot of shelter and rescue animals being done!

We also have a big surgery day coming up on Monday that we are excited to share with everyone! Look for more to come on that!

Also, don't forget that our wellness is ongoing Monday through Thursday each week and that we continue to provide very quick turnarounds to all of our wellness clients. Vaccinations, nail trims, wellness exams, and diagnostic testing are all things we will do with no exam fee.

Give us a call or visit our website to book your animal's spay, neuter, or wellness visit soon.

We will see you next week! We hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

Happy Friday everyone!

We've been back in the clinic this week and have been extremely busy!

Let's dive in to everything:

1) 192 animals were spayed and neutered this week! We know there are a lot of things going on in the fall, but we appreciate you being part of the huge impact that was made this week!

2) We performed surgery on 47 feral cats this week! That puts us at having seen just over 250 ferals since our opening! There is still such a need for feral cats to get spayed and neutered, especially as it starts to get colder and ferals start finding their warm places for the winter. As a reminder, we will take feral cats as walk in, day of appointments as long as you can get them here by 10 AM that day. Let us know if you want more information on our feral cat package and pricing and we will happy to try and work with you!

3) Wellness continues to be a great option for individuals looking for morning drop off and afternoon pick up, or just to come for a quick appointment in the afternoon! We saw 16 cats and dogs this week for wellness. We did everything from full wellness exams for puppies and cats to a quick, in and out bordetella vaccine. We do not charge exam or visit fees to come in and you do not have to have previously seen us for a spay or neuter for your animal to participate in our wellness. Give us a call at 205-840-3612 if you need to get your pet in!

We also want to again say a huge thank you to Jessica during national vet tech week! Handling anesthesia for 192 animals in one week is no small task and we greatly appreciate the work she does for us and for all of our cats and dogs!

We will have an awesome announcement next week so be on the lookout for that and other notes from us throughout the week!

See you back on Monday!

As promised, here are those photos from our team in St. Martin!

Happy Thursday everyone!

We wanted to show you all some pictures of our staff that recently visited the island of St. Martin for a very successful spay/neuter trip. We also wanted to highlight the information below for 4 Leaf Rover about the exponential effects of how spaying and neutering can prevent the overwhelming effects of overpopulation.

At Cahaba Spay Neuter, we very much understand the effects of overpopulation and how our rescues and shelters continuously step up to the plate to serve our dogs and cats locally. It is so important for the health of your animal and for future animal populations to spay and neuter your pets. Organizations like 4 Leaf Rover and the local organizations on the island were critical to the success of this project and the others in previous years. We are so thankful our staff got to be part of this project and increase their impact on animal populations beyond our local communities!

Check our follow up post to see the awesome pictures!

We are proud to say that 4 Leaf Rover has spayed and neutered 1,167 dogs and cats on the island of St Maarten over our last 4 campaigns (20 days of surgery). 🐕🐕‍🦺🐩🦮🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐩🐕‍🦺🐩🐈‍⬛🐈

This week is national vet tech appreciation week!

We want to give a huge shout out to our awesome licensed veterinary technician Jessica! Jessica has induced every animal that's come through the clinic since our opening! She does so many things day in and day out that make what we do possible. We are so appreciative of her and all that she does for our clinic!

Give a big thank you to Jessica for her work and for what she does each day to improve the quality of life for so many cats and dogs, not just here in Alabama in her 5+ years of being a vet tech, but also in the work she has done outside of Alabama. Jessica has traveled to Houston multiple times to help with their Empty the Shelter project, and she also just got back from a trip to the island of St. Martin, helping over 250 dogs and cats with their spay and neuter!

Everyone at Cahaba Spay Neuter thanks you Jess!

Happy Friday everyone! Just a quick note from us as we head into the weekend!

As the holiday season is rolling around, we know there will be folks off for the holidays, there will be animal adoptions as presents, and there will be a need for spay and neuter of some of those animals.

We wanted to go ahead and let everyone know what our seasonal availability will be for the remainder of the year. We will be off the following weeks through the end of the year:

* November 23 - November 27 (phones won't be answered 11/25 through 11/27)
* December 21 - December 25 (phones won't be answered 12/24 and 12/25)
* December 31 - January 1 (phones won't be answered either of these days)

If you are looking to get your pet spayed, neutered, or get in for wellness prior to the end of the year and our holiday schedule impacts this, please give us a call at 205-840-3612 and we will get you on the schedule as soon as possible! You can also go on our website and book as well.

We will be back in the clinic on Monday with some more updates and pictures from our staff that worked on the island of St. Maarten this week spaying and neutering animals!

Have a great Friday and we will see you next week!

10/12/2026

Good morning everyone! We hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend!

A reminder that while we are off this week, we are still answering the phones from 7 AM to 4 PM, are available via email, and you can still schedule appointments online. Just give us a call at 205-840-3612 or visit us at our website!

Also, big shout out to the team from Cahaba Spay Neuter that is on the island of St. Maarten this week assisting with a spay neuter project! Dr. Long, our vet tech Jessica, and Laryn, one of our vet assistants, flew out a few days ago and began work today on spaying and neutering pet and community dogs and cats on the island.

We wish them success as they make a positive impact on the animal populations abroad this week! Also, go check out 4 Leaf Rover if you want to support the project or learn more information about what they do!

Happy Friday everyone! We are finishing up another successful week in the clinic!

We've attached our weekly impact graphic and as you can see, we are continuing to do some great things! We also seen a huge uptick in wellness, both for our afternoon slots and for our morning drop off wellness.

Couple of things from us as we head into our off week:

1) We will be closed this upcoming week, but you can still do all the things you need to schedule an appointment. We will be answering our phones during normal business hours, we will be monitoring our [email protected] email, and you can go to our website www.cahabaspayneuter.com and check out our pricing, book an appointment, or see what services we offer.

2) We want to also highlight that while we will be off this week, we do have a cool staff shout out! Dr. Long and two of our staff members will be heading to the island of St. Maarten for a week long spay and neuter project! This is a great project that Dr. Long and multiple current staff members have been involved in over the past few years. There are so many needs here locally, but when the opportunity presents itself to make an impact abroad, we are thankful we have staff willing to expand that reach to areas that so desperately need those services. We will take a few days next week to highlight them, their journey, and the impact they are having overseas!

We hope that you and your pets stay safe and weather aware as hurricane Isaias approaches. Keep your pets inside, watch a good movie or some football, and be safe! We will see you all next week with some updates from St. Maarten!

Hello and happy Monday everyone!

First, we want to highlight that October is National Feral Cat month! Feral and community cats are a vital part of our local area and it is important to ensure they are well taken care of, particularly through the spaying and neutering of them. A great deal goes into trapping and caring for these cats and appreciate everyone who spends their time caring for, trapping, and working with the feral cats in our community!

If you are interested in our feral cat services, visit our webpage https://www.cahabaspayneuter.com/feral-cats-/-tnr for more information. This is a great resource if you are interested in working to get a feral or community cat spayed or neutered. Again, we appreciate all of the organizations and individuals that care for our community and feral cats!

Also, October is National Women's Small Business Month! We want to highlight Dr. June Long for her vision and work towards making Cahaba Spay Neuter possible. With over 4,500 surgeries completed year to date, our impact on our local rescue, shelter, client, and feral/community animals has been extraordinary. Her leadership is invaluable to our continued success and we appreciate her and all of the other women small business owners out there!

Be on the lookout for a few clinic highlights in the coming days. We want to pull back the curtains and really show you exactly what goes on in a high quality high volume spay neuter clinic! Also, we continue to have slots available this week if you are looking for a quick turnaround, so give us a call at 205-840-3612 to schedule with us!
