Baby goat snuggle season is nearing a close on the farm.
Why do we offer this on our working farm?
Well, gentle handling of the baby goats helps them to become comfortable with humans which helps down the road with caring for them. Whether it's trimming their hooves or being able to catch them for veterinary care, an early socialized goat only leads to a less stressed and fearful goat in their later years.
Through handling them daily I can monitor their health and notice any weakness or injuries early on.
Holding a baby goat can have meaningful emotional benefits for us too! Many people report having a sense of relaxation and lowered anxiety while engaging with the baby goats.
It has been the best watching little ones and their sense of awe with the babies this spring.
To everyone who has visited us this spring we are grateful. Thanks to so many of you who make it a family tradition year after year. ♥️

Now, that some of them are approaching 7 weeks old they prefer to jump and run with each other so we honor that with wrapping up this magical time on the farm.
We will offer a few more very small groups that incorporate just the youngest babies that were born three weeks ago.
