Having a difficult dog doesn’t mean we love them any less. It just means we may be throwing our own sanity away for a little bit. 🤪

Jumping bean, puppy machine!

Here is an introduction to how I would address jumping behaviors with a puppy. Just leash & treat combo. ✊🏼

This can be utilized the same way with older dogs! Utilizing your leash & showing your dog that the behavior is inappropriate, while marking the moment they do a more appropriate behavior (like all 4 on the floor or a sit) with a reward! ⭐️

If your older dog has patterned jumping for a long time, this may take some time to curb. Keep trying & stay consistent.

Give this method a go! 🐾☺️

A regulated nervous system, we need it.
Why wouldn’t animals?

For some reason we are programmed to believe that exhausting our dogs with activity is the only way to keep them tolerable.

Do you know what athletes do to train for the Olympics or a marathon?
A lot of activity, exercise, movement.

All of that exercise and activity you are giving your dog to make them tired? - Is only training an athlete who could handle/need more and more.

Incorporating downtime and ensuring your dog can regulate themselves when it’s raining outside & the 5 mile walks/runs just can’t happen, is so so vital & important.

Does your dog struggle with an “off-switch”?
Is the 3rd walk of the day still not cutting it?

You may be missing the other half. 🧘🏼😌
Relaxation & Regulation.

Believe it or not, we have to teach them that too! 🐶

Addressing leash reactivity starts with first teaching our dogs what the expectation is for the walk.

If you haven’t even made it two feet out the door and they are already dragging you to get somewhere, that is a good place to start.

Maisie has spent her time patrolling every weird bug, checking the ID of the mailman (twice), barking at a dog in their own house, down the block, before they get to bark at her and being everywhere but with her owner.

We opted for a slip leash to provide clear communication and set expectations for the walk that Maisie can lean on when the world around her gets scary.
Rather than going straight for the big bad bark!

Hey,

Let me have your attention for just a second, because I know you’ve been pondering whether or not the cost of a board & train program is really worth it.

News flash- It will be if you choose us! 😊
My focus will always be with your dog’s state of mind. Focusing on the ways we can cultivate a safer and calmer dog through training & leadership. While making sure that the transition back home is just as smooth for you! 🐾🐕💪🏼

Let’s talk dogs on the furniture! 🪑

I will be the first one to allow my dog up on the furniture. We love having him close & enjoying time with us.

That being said…
He knows when he is welcomed up and when he is told to hangout on the floor in his own bed.

That clear communication between the two of us makes for an easier time navigating our space in the home together and with guests. 🏠

If your dog displays unwanted behaviors or if you are looking to add a few more boundaries into their life, try starting with addressing being on/off of your furniture.

Will they get off when you ask? 🤔

When you hear of dog training, your brain probably immediately goes to obedience.
Sit, down, stay.

What does your dog need more of?
Help training their state of mind to find calmness. To settle. To be neutral, to exist with us peacefully.

Instead we sit back and hope they “calm down as they get older.”

Why would I want to wait? To suffer the best years we have together? No way. ❌

Dog training is more than just the flashy tricks and commands, can your dog handle the real world around them?

Let’s help you get there so you can enjoy your life together! 🐕⭐️
