Sometimes, rescue begins with a phone call.
In the fall of 2022, Santa Clara Animal Services received a report about a herd of horses being neglected. When Humane Officers arrived, they found six horses who were thin and badly in need of hoof and dental care.
After the owner failed to comply with instructions to improve their care, the horses were seized. Flynn was among those in the most critical condition, with a body condition score of just 1.
Because of the ongoing case against their former owner, the horses remained in the care of Animal Services for several months. Once the District Attorney released them, Redwings was contacted, and Flynn, along with Ethan, Freyja, and Nonnie, made the journey to our sanctuary.
For Flynn, arriving at Redwings meant the beginning of a very different life, one with proper nutrition, veterinary and farrier care, patience, compassion, and the time he needed to recover.
Watching Flynn today is a powerful reminder of just how much can change when a horse is given the care and second chance they deserve. ❤️
For 35 years, Redwings has been there for horses like Flynn, and this October, we're coming together to celebrate that legacy and help make sure we can continue being there when the next call comes.
🐴 Join us Saturday, October 17, for the Redwings Horse Sanctuary 35th Anniversary Benefit Gala at the Paso Robles Event Center, featuring a live demonstration with Warwick Schiller and a Redwings horse, dinner, live music, auctions, and an evening celebrating 35 years of rescue and sanctuary.
Every ticket purchased helps support the horses who depend on Redwings and the work that makes transformations like Flynn's possible.
