This past week, 64 animals came into our care — and 40 found their way into loving homes ❤️

Purr-Vana has been with us since **June 12, 2025**, and she’s patiently waiting for someone to finally say, *“you’re the one.”* She’s a confident, independent lady who knows what (and who) she likes — and isn’t afraid to let you know when she’s not impressed. She keeps watching tiny kittens go home while she waits… and waits. Purr-Vana deserves someone who’ll respect her space and love her on her terms. If that sounds like you, come meet her — she might just choose *you*. 💜

🔥 **It’s Almost Here: Firefighters & Felines!**

Our *purr-ecious* feline friends are officially off quarantine **TOMORROW (9/6/25)** and they’re ready to *pounce* into your heart! 🐱💕

We’re bursting at the seams with *pawsitively adorable* kitties who can’t wait to find their forever homes — and we desperately need your help to *cat-ch* them some loving families so we can make room for new intakes. We’re FULL to the whiskers! 😿

Swing by **Tuesday - Saturday, 10AM to 5PM** to meet your *purrfect match*! Adoption fee is just **$50**, and every kitty goes home vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. 🏡✨

We had 38 animals come in this past week — and 15 head out the front door to new homes ❤️

We’re still under quarantine for feline panleukopenia for *just one more week*, but we do have a few cats and kittens available right meow! If you’ve been thinking about adopting, it’s a great time to come take a look.

We’ve got lots of great dogs waiting to meet you too — including **Bestie**, a sweet border collie mix and a staff and volunteer favorite. She’s been patiently waiting for her person, and we’d love for you to come say hi!

🐾 **If you didn’t know… now you do!** 🐾

The *ultimutt* end-of-summer bash went down this week at Memorial Aquatic Park in Pasco—and it was a **pawsitively splashtastic** evening! 💦🐶

Once a year, right before the pool closes for the season, it goes to the dogs—literally! From doggy paddles to cannonbarks, our four-legged friends were soaking up those *hot dog summer* vibes. 🌭☀️🐕

💛**Just a heads up**: None of these pups are available for adoption—they all came to the event accompanied by their loving owners! But if you’re looking for a furry best friend of your own, we’ve got some tail-wagging cuties at the shelter just waiting to meet you. 🐾🏠

**National Dog Day May Be Nearly Over, But Joe the Husky Is Just Getting Started!** 🐶🎉

We’re wrapping up **National Dog Day**, but the celebration doesn’t have to end! Joe, our featured husky with a heart of gold, will be making his big debut TOMORROW on **Apple Valley News Now’s Operation Best Friend** — and he’s more than ready to find his forever home!

Every day is a good day to adopt your new best friend — and every adoption makes room for another animal in need. Could you be the next happy ending?

‼️Important Update on Cat Adoptions/Intakes‼️

Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily **pausing all cat adoptions** after one of our shelter cats tested positive for feline panleukopenia aka the equivalent of Canine Parvovirus in felines.

🐶 **Dog adoptions are continuing as normal** and are not affected by this pause.

Cat adoptions will remain closed until we’re confident it’s safe to reopen. In the meantime, our dedicated shelter staff are working around the clock to care for every animal in our facility. This is a stressful time for both the animals and the humans who love and care for them, and we are incredibly grateful for the compassion and commitment our team shows every day.

We understand how disappointing this news is for those eager to welcome a new feline friend, but the health and safety of our animals must remain our top priority.

Thank you for your patience, support, and continued belief in our mission. It means the world to our team—and to the animals who depend on us.

📺 **Breve’s Story Hit the Airwaves Today** 💔➡️💖

Just weeks ago, this gentle mama cat was found abandoned—left in a tote sealed shut with a piece of wood outside our old shelter. Scared, trapped, and protecting her babies.

Today? She was featured on **Operation Best Friend** with Apple Valley News Now—purring in a lap, soaking up love, and showing the world what a second chance can look like. 🐾✨

Breve is still waiting for her forever home—and so are many others just like her.

You may have seen one very special face on Apple Valley News Now this morning—**Breve**, the mama cat who was abandoned outside our old facility last month, is this week’s star of *Operation Best Friend*! And she’s not alone—**Tri-Cities Animal Services will be featured every Wednesday in August**, so make sure to tune in and meet some of the incredible animals (and people!) behind the work we do.

While Breve is soaking up her moment in the spotlight, the truth is…
**adoptions have slowed** — and our shelter is feeling it.

But even in a tough week, we’re still moving forward.
