HOW TO PROTECT YOUR DOG FROM FLEAS & TICKS NATURAL APPROACHES
Instead of chemicals linked to serious side effects, you can use targeted natural measures to support your dog from the inside out.
Here is a core routine that have been used for a long time:
Garlic helps create an internal scent barrier
✅Preparation: Chop and let sit 10 minutes to activate allicin.
Dosage:
Small dogs: 1/8 clove daily
Medium dogs: 1/4 clove daily
Large dogs: 1/2 clove daily
Use daily for 2 weeks to build effect, then switch to every other day (or 5 days on / 2 days off).
Repeat the 2-week daily cycle every 6–8 weeks during peak season.
Start slowly and monitor for any adverse reactions.
✅Diatomaceous Earth (food grade only) supports internal defense and may reduce parasites
Dosage:
Under 10 lbs: 1/4 tsp
10–40 lbs: 1/2 tsp
40+ lbs: 1 tsp
Mix into moist food once daily for 30 days during peak season.
After 30 days, take a 7–10 day break before resuming if needed.
Safety notes: Never inhale the dust; avoid giving dry (risk of throat irritation).
✅Apple Cider Vinegar alters skin pH to make dogs less attractive to pests
Add 1/4–1 tsp to food (dose by size), or dilute 1:1 with water and use as a light body spray.
No buildup required; discontinue if it causes digestive upset.
Practical notes
These are supportive, preventative measures not medical treatments. Start slowly, especially for dogs with health issues or on medications, and monitor for changes.
Use food-grade diatomaceous earth only and avoid inhalation.
Apply topicals only to intact skin; stop if irritation occurs.
I prefer natural prevention over routine chemical use. Adjust doses for your dog’s size and condition, and consult your veterinarian if your pet has health concerns.
