It's Heat Awareness Day! This day was created by OSHA and the National Weather Service to educate the public about the dangers of extreme heat and how to prevent heat-related illness.

Signs of heat stress in dogs can be:
Excessive panting, bright red or pale gums, thick drool, lethargy, stumbling, and collapse.
If your dog exhibits these symptoms, immediately move them into a cool shaded area or air conditioned room. Wet their body with cool (not ice cold) water and prioritize their stomach, paws, and inner thighs. Contact us and try to offer small sips of water.

Signs of heat stress in cat can be:
Heavy panting, drooling, restlessness and bright red gums.
If your cat is exhibiting these symptoms, do the same as instructed for dogs above!
