It's Hairball Awareness Day! We decided to ask Dr. Alexander for some helpful tips when battling hairballs with your feline friends. Here are some of her suggestions.

Laxatone is a great option that acts as a lubricant to help the hair pass through the feline digestive track. This is a molasses type consistency that can be fed to them on a spoon, placed on their paw to lick, or squeezed directly into their mouth. It comes in Tuna and Maple flavoring and cats tend to love it!

Vetasyl is a capsule that can be sprinkled on their food directly. This adds fiber to bind to the hair in their digestive track to help it pass more solidly with their stool.

A simple practice to also try is helping to brush out your cat regularly. This can help both long and short haired cats to remove excess hair for when they groom themselves.
