HELLO SUMMER!!

As we all enjoy the sun☀️ and outdoor activities 🏖️ this summer, don’t forget to protect your dogs from the heat.

Dogs with shorter noses (called bracycehphalic) had a harder time expelling extra heat and are more prone to heat stroke. Watch your Frenchies, Boxers, and Shih Tzu’s close while outdoors in the heat.

It’s Pet Appreciation Week!

Pet Appreciation Week is a great time to appreciate the joy pets bring. Their love and companionship fill our homes with warmth. A dog's wagging tail or a cat's purr can make a big difference. Pets teach us about love and loyalty, sensing our moods and offering comfort. They encourage responsibility and keep us active. Their quirky antics entertain us daily. Celebrating this week reminds us how much richer our lives are with them.

What do you love most about your pet?

It’s International Women’s Day!

Did you know that Hawthorne Animal Hospital has always been woman owned since it was built in 1990?

Dr. Brundrett built the practice in 1990 and co-owned with Dr. Davis.
Dr. Brown bought the practice in 2008
And Dr. LeSage has now purchased the practice in 2025.

We are proud to have always maintained under a local, private owner. And even more proud that we have always been women owned.

Thank you to our clients for supporting small, local business.

Shedding season is here! With the warming weather dogs (and cats) are starting to blow their winter coats! Which means lots of extra hair around the house.
Bring them in to our groomer, Tae, for a bath and blow out! A good bath with quality shampoo and conditioner loosens the dead hair so that the blow dryer can blast it all out. That’s followed up with brushing, nail trimming/grinding, and ear cleaning.
Regular desheds lead to less shedding and less sweeping.
Call to make an appointment today before the books fill up!

Just because periodontal disease may not be visible doesn’t mean it isn’t occurring and doesn’t need treatment. Pets with dental disease have an infection in the oral cavity and each time the pet chews bacteria are released into the bloodstream. This can have a detrimental effect on the heart, liver, and kidney. Annual oral examinations and regular professional cleanings can help keep your pet’s mouth healthy.
