Doglando

Doglando Real. Natural. Whole-istic. The way dogs should be treated! An outdoor lifestyle for dogs! In doing so, our dogs created their own freedoms.
(235)

In everything we do, we believe in challenging the status quo, we believe in thinking differently, we believe in providing dogs with experiences that will help them thrive in captive living, and we believe in having open communication and an exchange of dialog between all the human counterparts that are connected in enhancing each dog's quality of life experience. And the way we began challenging

status quo back in 2003, was to give our dogs the freedom of space. These included the freedom to learn, the freedom to express themselves as normal, freedom to be in nature, freedom to think, do, bark...

"Doglando became less about discovering something new, and more about uncovering something old." - Teena Patel

Think about your dog’s day:
How often does their body feel the warmth of the sun?
How often do their paws touch real ground?
How often do they breathe the outdoors?

If the answer is:
“Not enough…”

You’re not alone.
Most of us were never taught how deeply dogs need nature to thrive.

But now that we know…
We can choose differently.

We built Doglando for this exact reason —
To give dogs back what modern life took away.

6 hours of outdoor, sensory-rich, species-appropriate living.
Every. Single. Day.

Because your dog deserves more than management —
They deserve belonging. 🐾🌿

The Kershners have been LONG time Doglando members. In fact, they are founding members (sending love to Mojo, Alaska and BB, over the rainbow bridge, as we write this and think about the beginnings of our relationship).

Today, they are doggy parents to Meka - Momma of Doglando Foundations Litter M and Sara - Puppy from Litter L.

Abbie - Camp Doglando alumni, and had Sara as her last camp dog before graduating high school.

Abbie, The Kershners and Sara have since stayed in touch. They routinely meet at UCF, where Ann works and Abbie attends school.

Their relationship has grown in a magnitude of ways: Abbie has become part of their family, and Sara knows her name much like the word “treat.”

For us, their ongoing engagement is so heartwarming, it serves as a reminder of how we aim to bridge the human-dog relationship - one that is on a continuum, ever lasting and will forever live in all our hearts.

How does one dog unite this many people?

Or, why do this many people come together over one dog?

The highways allow a merging of lanes, our infrastructure must be build for convergence not intersections.

Ann Kershner, you are just that. A pathway for continuing the meeting of the hearts. Thank you!!!!!

On this day of remembrance and knowing:

“We are a lot of consumers in a world that just accepts everything. We should return to a world that decides to put plants in the ground and visit rivers, lagoons, and waterfalls. For each day we walk into the light, breathe the air, step on the earth, the land deserves our offering.” - Flavio Santi Ayuy Yu

We allow our ancestors to remind us what we make of the land we live on, and at Doglando, this is where we started when we first set foot on the land that would give companion dogs back their freedoms of space, choice and expresssion.

It was seeing the space we had not as an opportunity to use every inch of it in building, but rather to retain the integrity of this small piece of land as a sacred place for landing - a habitat that reclaimed its nature not as manicured and beautiful as people would like to see it, but where dogs felt arriving here was their place of respite, because other animals also choose to make it their place for rest, food, birthing and rearing their young ones.

Most “doggy daycares” are built like indoor gyms:
• Rubber flooring
• Fluorescent lights
• Walls and walls and walls

Even when dogs “play” — they are still deprived of the one thing nature designed them to thrive under:

Sunlight.

This means:
– More cortisol (stress hormone)
– More overstimulation
– More behavior issues
– Less relaxation and balance

At Doglando, our model is the opposite of conventional daycare.

We are not a place where dogs burn energy.
We are a place where dogs regulate energy.

Through:
✅ Sunlight
✅ Soil and grass
✅ Natural movement
✅ Pack learning
✅ Open space

6 hours outdoors isn’t recreation — it’s restoration.
Dogs leave here balanced, not exhausted.

What if we told you the most important “supplement” for your dog… is light?

Not fish oil.
Not probiotics.
Not even fancy kibble toppers.

SUNLIGHT. Real sunlight. ☀️
The kind their bodies evolved under.
The kind their cells depend on.

Dogs’ mitochondria (the tiny energy engines inside every cell) literally absorb sunlight to power healthy function — just like ours.

But most of our dogs spend their days:
• Indoors
• Under LED bulbs
• Exposed to blue light from screens/TVs
• With very limited real outdoor sunlight

This lack of natural light can lead to:
– Sluggish metabolism
– Increased stress hormones
– Lower immune function
– Inflammation + behavioral tension

Your dog doesn’t just enjoy being outside.
Their body requires it.

At Doglando, dogs spend 6+ hours outdoors every day, in sunlight, fresh air, and earth — because health is not created inside four walls. 🐾🌿

Your dog’s biology remembers.

Our Story

The University of Doglando offers 6 acres of completely fenced in play areas and a private doggy beach. Focusing on natural and innate doggy instincts, curiosity and play, all play areas are unique from one another allowing the dogs to be stimulated in different ways. Unlike all others, Doglando offers the cleanest, safest and most aerated indoor and outdoor play areas. Our back door and windows are left open through out the day to allow: our dogs the freedom of the indoors and the great outdoors, continuous circulation of fresh air keeping the indoors well aerated and free of airborne illnesses, and the natural breakdown of urine and f***l matter on real grass unlike collection under artificial turf. At University of Doglando, the welfare and happiness of our four-legged clients is our primary business, not an afterthought or a hobby. We are owned and operated by Certified Trainer and Canine Behavior Specialist, Teena Patel. We understand dogs. We know how to create the right environment combined with the proper elements of care, to produce a successful well-mannered family companion.

We opened our doors with the intention to discover a better way to provide daycare. As a working labratory, it is our mission to create processes that can be standardized, streamlined and strengthed to provide a stable and predictable envionment in which our dogs can thrive.

Through our work, we have pioneered the Canine Enrichment model and we have developed the 8 Spheres of Canine Enrichment that we teach in our Canine Enrichment Academy at Doglando University.
