🎃HAPPY HOWL-O-WEEN! TRICKS, TREATS & A FEW REMINDERS TO KEEP YOUR PUPS SAFE TONIGHT!

👻 COSTUMES CAN BE SPOOKY! Even the most emotionally balanced dogs can be caught off guard by masks, unfamiliar outfits, and little ones dressed up in costumes. If your pup seems nervous or unsure, give them a quiet place to relax away from the excitement. It’s perfectly okay to let them sit this one out!

🚪 WATCH THE DOOR! With trick-or-treaters coming and going all evening, the risk of a door-dashing adventure is real! Keep your dog secured behind a baby gate or relaxing in their kennel. If they’re joining in on the fun, keep them leashed and supervised. Remember, not everyone is comfortable around dogs, and some kiddos (and adults!) may have allergies or fearful.

🍫 KEEP THE CANDY OUT OF PAW’S REACH! Chocolate, xylitol (found in some sugar-free treats), and raisins are toxic to dogs. Candy wrappers can also cause problems, so keep those trick-or-treat bags and candy bowls somewhere curious noses can’t reach!

🐶 CHECK THOSE ID TAGS! Make sure your pup’s collar tags are up to date and their microchip information is current, just in case they manage to sneak out.

A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping Halloween safe and enjoyable for everyone. Sometimes the best plan for your pup is a cozy spot, a little peace and quiet, and a treat of their own! 🦴

The world is brand new to your puppy. Let’s help them feel good about it!

Is your puppy between 8–20 weeks old? This is such an important stage in their development!

During this time, puppies experience their first fear period, when scary or overwhelming experiences can leave lasting impressions. Positive, gradual introductions to new sights, sounds, people, car rides, and everyday experiences can help build confidence and create positive associations with the world around them.

That’s exactly why we created our Puppy Head Start class! We provide a structured, trainer-guided environment where you and your puppy can work on confidence building and desensitization while navigating this important stage together.

We only have a handful of classes left in 2026, with LIMITED SPACE for NEW clients in our November 17th and 24th classes!

Check out these amazing pups who recently graduated from our Therapy Dog Training Program!

These pups and their dedicated parents spent over 8 weeks working together and building the skills needed to work towards becoming certified therapy dog teams. We are so proud of the time, effort, and dedication each of these teams put into their training!

Interested in starting your own therapy dog journey? Our Pre-Therapy Dog Class is the first step, and we have a few spots left in our next class starting Saturday, November 14th at 10 AM! This will be our last class until 2027, so don’t miss your chance to get started!

October’s Little Guy of the Month is… 🧡 ASPEN! 🧡

Aspen is a mini Goldendoodle who knows how to get the party started in our Little Guys group! She is quite literally everyone’s best friend and can bring out the playful side in just about anyone. 😂

Before joining daycare, Aspen went through a Day Training program with our Head Trainer, Maddie. Since then, they’ve completed our Therapy Dog classes, and Aspen & her mom are now a fully certified team out in the community bringing joy to everyone they meet!

At daycare, you can usually find her playing with her favorite buddies, Dixie the Bernedoodle and Coco the Patterdale Terrier. We absolutely love her little spitfire personality, sassy side, and unbelievably sweet nature. We’re so proud of how far Aspen and her mom have come over the past year!

October’s Big Dog of the Month is… 🖤 RIPLEY! 🖤

Ripley is a black Labrador Retriever, and we like to say his head is just as big as his heart! This big boy has been coming to daycare for almost two years now, and it’s been so fun watching him grow along the way.

His all-time bestie is Daisy the Great Pyrenees, but he also loves romping around with Maizie the Rottweiler and Rocky the Portuguese Water Dog! Ripley is big, silly, and full of personality, and we absolutely love having him in our Big Guys playgroup. We’re so glad we get to spend our days with this sweet boy!

We are so proud of the work our teams are doing in their communities and beyond! Mac & Titan joined the Gold Squad helping bring joy and smiles to those experiencing travel anxiety and Otto joint the First Responders Therapy Dog Program! Incredible dogs, incredible work!

What do we look for in a potential Therapy Dog?

🦴 Most Therapy Dog Testing/Certification organizations require dogs to be over a year old before beginning the testing process. We suggest starting training right away with your puppy taking classes and starting formal therapy dog training around 10 months old! Some dogs take longer to mature and THAT’S OKAY! Many therapy dogs wait to be tested until they are well over 2 years old.

🦴 Therapy Dogs should enjoy attention and affection from people they do not know. That includes being touched on their heads, body, chest, tail, and other areas. Therapy Dogs should be calm and confident around people outside of their family members. Some dogs do not enjoy being petted by people they do not know - THAT’S OKAY! They’re still wonderful dogs - therapy works is just not the job for them.

🦴 Therapy Dogs should be calm and confident in stressful environments like hospitals, schools, assisted living centers, and more. Dogs are sensitive beings and they can smell and hear more intensely then humans can making medical facilities sometimes more stressful for dogs. Therapy Dogs should be able to go into these environments with minimal stress so they can bring JOY and SMILES to those they visit!

Our latest round of Puppy Essential Class students started class this week and look at these studious pups!

We started class off learning about Puppy Communication with Marker Words! Whether we’re teaching our puppies sometime new, reinforcing a skill their learning, or letting them know it’s free time - marker words are the key to a successful training session!

We cannot wait to see all the progress these puppies make!

Greta the black lab started Therapy Dog Readiness Class today!

We perfected our people greeting skills and dived into the nitty gritty of working as a therapy dog team! Our therapy dog classes were created and are taught by trainers that are currently volunteering as therapy dog teams!

With thousands of hours of volunteering in hospitals, schools, and assisted living centers on our resumes, we created our therapy dog classes to prepare our clients to pass the test and beyond!

We can’t wait to see Greta and her mom impact their community together!

Panda the Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy just graduated her Puppy Essentials Class!

We love guiding these puppies and their parents through the ups and downs of puppyhood! We have our next round of Puppy Essentials Class starting on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd at 7:15 pm! This class is for puppies ages 6 months to 12 months old and we have TWO spots open!!
