Today’s artwork is called “Shake It Off!.” Thanks so much for taking a moment to check it out.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how this time of year always feels like a transition—everything’s shifting, softening, changing color.

What do you think of this one?

This Grizzly Bear photograph was taken in the Orford River Valley in British Columbia Canada. I was standing on a viewing platform 15 feet above the ground. The bears are so absorbed in fishing for salmon that they ignore everything else. This bear missed the fish and came up for air shaking its head. It was a wonderful sight. I like how the out-of-focus parts of the head convey motion.

Isn’t it funny how we start craving warmer colors just as the world turns cooler around us?

October is here, and with it, the leaves are ready to burn bright before winter.

Seabeck, WA is my favorite place to take pictures of the interactions between Bald Eagles. Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons congregate at Seabeck from mid-May through mid-June to take advantage of Midshipman fish spawning. This image is one that I have been trying to capture for years. I was so excited when I realized that I had locked focus on the eagles fighting over the fish.

"TB Splashing": https://store.rosalindphilipsphotography.com/merchandise-warehouse/art_print_products/tb-splashing

There’s a special kind of magic in those unexpected moments on the road. On a rainy morning along Alaska’s Sterling Highway, I was headed to Seward to catch my boat; hoping to photograph puffins on Resurrection Bay. Of course, I was scanning the roadside for wildlife. As we passed a bog, I saw a cow moose splashing in the water. We immediately made a U-turn and pulled over. A shaft of sunlight lit up the moose just as I was getting ready to press the shutter button. This was the first of many magical moments during my visit to the Kenai Peninsula.

How is September almost over?

Time's moving fast — art helps me slow it down. ⏰

Here’s "Tote Bag Rufous Feeding Babies" if you need a moment to pause, too.

The sight of a hummingbird nest never fails to amaze me. These tiny cup shaped nests are built of moss, lichen and spider webs. The nest stretches as the chicks grow. The female rufous hummingbird returned to the nest every 15 – 40 minutes to feed her hungry chicks. I observed this nest several times over 10 days to capture this image.
