I want this post to serve as a warning to all rescues as well as anyone who might be a target. About a month ago I received an email from Jimmy Tucker asking how to donate to my rescue. I responded appropriately and then did not hear anything until Friday when I received a check from his relative's estate for $4000.00. Needless to say I was so excited thinking I would be able to get a new interior fence for the rescue. However, shortly after depositing the check I started getting texts that there had been a mistake and the check was only supposed to be for $2000.00. Then the request for me to send back the other $2000.00 asap. I knew immediately it was a scam but played along so I could contact authorities and of course my bank. The fraud department said this is a common scam that is use daily. The money was actually credited to my account, so it appeared to be legitimate. But they said in 3-4 days the check would have been returned, and I would have been out the $2,000.00 they had asked me to send. She told me she had just worked a case and the man had lost $13,000.00 to a similar scam. So beware...those dirty rotten scoundrels are out there!
