Beaufort County Animal Services

Beaufort County Animal Services Do you own a pet in Beaufort County, South Carolina? We are your County Shelter! The Beaufort County Animal Services is a county run facility.
(300)

We are an open admission shelter that provides service to the residents of Beaufort County. Being an open admission shelter we accept any animal that is brought to us by residents from within Beaufort County. Because of our REDUCE initiative —which was designed to reduce overpopulation, euthanasia, disease, owner surrenders, and cruelty —we've been able to:

Begin to correct the disparity between

the number of animals that come into our care and the number of homes willing to adopt them, especially for felines. Reduce the rate of euthanasia by 50% from 2013 compared to the same time period in 2011. Increase the Live Release rate to 66% during the same time period. Partner with Hilton Head Humane to provide a low-cost, high quality spay/neuter service for pets of people in need. We also continue to work with our limited-admission organizations, to ensure the reduction of euthanasia in our area. Given the current challenges facing animals in our community, we believe it is imperative to continue to be a place for all animals in need by continuing to operate as an open-admission shelter. Whether open-admission or limited-admission, our combined efforts are achieving more for animals now more than ever before.

We need foster families… because we are officially overrun by tiny, fluffy overlords.

Yes, it's true. The small ones have taken control. They demand snacks. They demand snuggles. They demand to be carried like royalty. And honestly… we simply cannot resist them anymore.

If you've ever thought, “I could totally handle a cute dictator,” this is your moment.

We provide everything they need—food, supplies, and support.
You just provide:
• Love
• A safe, cozy space (preferably away from your own household pets so the overlords don’t start intergalactic negotiations)
• Occasional chin scratches

Ready to open your home to a temporary, adorable tyrant?

🐾 SHELTER WISH LIST ALERT! 🐾

Before you toss those old towels during your next clean-out, think of our shelter pets! ❤️

We're currently in need of:

🛁 Large Bath Towels
🧺 Small Towels
🤲 Hand Towels

They do NOT need to be new or fancy! We're happy to accept gently used, older, faded, or even stained towels. If you're doing some spring cleaning and have towels taking up space in a closet, we'd love to give them a second life helping animals in our care.

Every towel helps us keep our dogs and cats clean, comfortable, and cozy while they wait for their forever homes. 🐶🐱

Burrito has been adopted by a wonderful family after being in the shelter for 668 days. Burrito has always been a great dog. Nobody until now has given him a chance because like so many other wonderful dogs, he did not show well in his kennel. This family got to see Burrito in a play yard with other dogs and got to see how great of a dog he really is. If you are ever at a shelter or rescue, please believe the staff when they talk about the dogs. They see the dogs everyday while a foster or adopter usually only sees them in their kennels trying everything to get people’s attention. Have a wonderful life Burrito. You deserve it! ❤️
