New Harvest Newsletter

This week: We had a special visit from our son, his wife, and our grandson, who looked like a little bear in the bean patch and had a blast pulling turnips and picking peas.

Salad mix and arugula are still growing strong, with peas and spinach gaining speed. We’re saying goodbye to the okra and peppers as frost looks to arrive November 1st, but we’ve got two small salt and pepper cucumbers hanging on in the solarium. Plus, Karl and Rita share their favorite ways to cook kale, chard, beets, and turnips (spicy sausage included ).

New Harvest Newsletter

This week: Thanks to our wonderful farm crew, Farmer Karl and Rita were able to enjoy a beautiful fall weekend in the highlands of central Utah.
Back on the farm, we harvested our very first bag of spinach, a small but welcome sign that spinach season has begun.

On the harvest side: Salad mix and arugula are still going strong, while many other veggies wind down for the season. We also planted 5 lbs of Chesnok Red (Shvelisi') garlic from Sundries Farm, and our winter cover crops are getting a beautiful start thanks to the recent rain.

Farm update: With the Ogden Farmers Market finished until May, we are shifting into our winter rhythm. We'll now post available produce twice a week online as it's harvested (pickups remain Wed 4–7pm, Thu–Sat 8am–noon).

New Harvest Newsletter

This week: Indian summer has arrived, giving our crops one more burst of life: tomatoes, okra, eggplant, cucumbers, and peppers are all responding with a surprising late-season harvest.

We're celebrating this Saturday, October 10th at Grow Ogden's Fall Farm Fest, with some free pizza, live music, and a bake sale featuring Rita's tomato basil zucchini bread.

Plus, our sugar snap peas are flowering for the first time at Faircrest, and our solarium cucumbers are climbing in hopes of a late crop just in time for Thanksgiving!

New Harvest Newsletter

This week: Thank you to the ~30 friends who joined us for our 2nd Annual Open House.
We're grateful for 0.6 inches of rain this week, bringing Ogden's 2026 total close to its annual average.

On the harvest side: salad mix is really taking off, golden beets are matching the fall colors, and we've fully transitioned to city water with a new pulse irrigation rhythm. We're also welcoming two new applicants to our farm-based life-relaunching program.

New Harvest Newsletter

This week: Nature changed the music on us, our secondary water supply shut off early, so we're dancing our way through the rest of the season on house water alone (and praying for rain ).

On the harvest side: Yukon Gold potatoes are coming up, tomatoes are finally turning red, and we're growing kohlrabi for the first time, some are the size of baseballs.

Plus, a reminder to save the date for our Open House on Tuesday, September 29th, 5:30–8:30pm.

This week: 47°F nights mean fall is arriving — leeks are in full swing and potatoes are coming soon.
