Marking in the home is a behavioral issue that can quickly become a frustrating habit if it isn’t addressed properly.

In this clip from the Yes Brand Podcast, Graham breaks down why dogs mark, what drives the behavior, and how owners can work to prevent it in the home. 🐾

Note: There are many factors that help distinguish urine marking from simply relieving the bladder, and these are just a few things to consider. Leg lifting does not always mean a dog is marking, but it is commonly associated with marking behavior. Context matters—including smaller amounts of urine, repeated deposits, targeting vertical, novel or socially relevant objects, sniffing beforehand, and often leg lifting. Dogs are always communicating—we just have to pay attention. 🐾

When we recognize and reinforce the behaviors we want, we don’t just build better behavior. We build a stronger relationship.

Listen. Acknowledge. Reinforce. Connect. ❤️

Family dogs come in all sizes. 🐾

Not every family needs or wants a big dog. Sometimes the perfect fit is a confident, well-trained small dog that can join you on everyday adventures with great manners and reliability…like this sweet dachshund we raised and trained 🫶🏼🐾

Our Pre-Trained Family Dog Program is built around finding the right dog for your lifestyle—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Because great training isn’t measured in pounds. It’s measured in the life you get to enjoy together. ❤️

A well-trained dog isn’t always moving… sometimes the biggest skill is learning to simply be still. Place work creates calm, focus, and better decision-making.

A well-trained dog isn’t just more obedient—they are more adaptable, more confident, happier, and easier to live with.

Training builds communication, trust, and the freedom to enjoy more of life together.

That’s what Bootcamp is all about. 🐾

Calm isn’t just typically something your dog has—it’s something you can teach.

Don’t wait to reward only obedience. Reward the quiet moments, relaxed body language, and calm choices your dog offers throughout the day.

Dogs repeat what pays. Reinforce calm, and you’ll see more of it.

A service dog’s true value isn't measured by a vest or basic obedience. It’s measured by reliability, consistency, and the ability to perform when it matters most. The difference may not always be visible, but it can have a lasting impact on safety, independence, and quality of life.

At SDT, we believe great service dogs aren't created by chance. This article explores the training standards, real-world proofing, and handler education that help create dependable working dogs capable of supporting their handlers every day.

Discover why the quality of a service dog program matters just as much as the dog itself.

The Difference Isn’t Always Visible—But It Matters From the outside, many service dogs can look similar. They may: But the reality is: Not all service dogs are trained to the same standard—and that difference matters. When it comes to safety, reliability, and real-world performance, training q...
