While we ask our horses to flex at the beginning stages of starting them under saddle. We find that it is important to quickly move on to the next step to maintain the mental connection that the reins are attached to the front legs. Yes we will occasionally revisit this simple excercise but what if we were to build off of it? What if we asked our horses to flex and moved into a turn? What if we asked our horse to flex and drive forward into the counterbend? How about soften into a one rein stop? Etc There are many excercises that we can continue to create softness but we want it to come through our horse’s entire body while maintaining driving forward.🤠

Yesterday our horse “Finn” went out on the trail. He led the ride from the trail head and is naturally brave. We rode up on a turkey, a whitetail deer, and flushed out a flock of crows and Finn just continued down the trail.

If you are looking for a young horse that is an old soul, Finn is the kind!
