RBARI is a leading no-kill animal shelter dedicated to providing second chances, safe refuge, medical care, and forever homes to local homeless dogs and cats in NJ. (RBARI), the leading no-kill animal shelter in Northern New Jersey, is dedicated to second chances by providing safe refuge and essential medical and behavioral care, along with new forever homes to New Jersey’s homeless and abused dog

s and cats. Focusing on animals with the greatest need, RBARI is especially committed to those often rejected, including seniors; urgent medical cases; and surrenders. RBARI regularly pulls from local animal control facilities, thus placing an emphasis on “local first", allowing us to impact the rate of euthanasia as well as reduce the homeless population. RBARI also supports the community, assisting in animal welfare emergencies and working with partner organizations to provide low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for communities in need. We also work with our TNR partners to help decrease the overpopulation and stop the cycle of homelessness and abuse too many animals suffer.

💛 Sheba Update: Looking for a Very Special Foster 💛

Despite everything she’s been through, 7-month-old Sheba is recovering well and remains the happiest little girl. She’s eating, playful, affectionate, and absolutely adorable.

After suffering with a severe re**al prolapse for over a week without proper medical care, Sheba required emergency surgery to remove necrotic colon tissue and save her life.

The biggest challenge right now is that Sheba is having very frequent bowel movements. While her stool is becoming more formed, she is still having accidents and needs someone who understands that rescue and recovery isn’t always neat and tidy.

Sheba’s medical team is continuing to adjust her diet and add fiber in hopes that things will improve as her body heals from the removal of necrotic colon tissue and the severe prolapse she endured before rescue. Because of the extent of her injuries, it’s hard to know what her long-term recovery will look like.

What we do know is that Sheba deserves the chance to heal in a home.

At just 19 pounds, she’s the perfect size, incredibly sweet, loves attention, and doesn’t let much get her down. She is looking for the right family to help her through this stage of recovery.

Could you be Sheba’s hero? Apply to foster today at rbari.org.

Your compassion saved Sheba’s life by ensuring she received the emergency care she needed. Now, we are hoping to find that special someone to open their home and heart to our adorable little survivor. Please share!

A comfortable home could make all the difference for Sheba. 💛

🚨 To Save More Rabbits, We Need Homes First! 🚨
Our rabbit program is full.

Today we’re highlighting some of the amazing rabbits currently waiting for families. Could one of them be your perfect match? Visit rbari.org/adopt to find out!

Despite having wonderful bunnies of all ages, personalities, and colors waiting patiently for homes, adoptions have slowed dramatically. Many of these buns have been with us for months, watching families pass them by, waiting to be chosen.

The reality is simple: until more rabbits are adopted, we have very limited space to help additional rabbits who need rescue. And that’s heartbreaking, because every one of these buns deserves a family.

💛 Selma, an energetic little explorer who lives for banana treats and adventure.
💛 Lillith, one of the smartest buns we’ve met. She loves puzzle toys, enrichment, and has even learned tricks in foster care!
💛 Patrick, a mischievous young bunny who keeps us laughing with his playful antics.
💛 Valentina, a total sweetheart who loves cuddling and has a habit of tucking herself in with a pillow at bedtime.
💛 Blanche, a survivor with a missing piece of her ear and a heart full of love.
💛 Miranda, our interior design bunny who insists on rearranging her space just right.
💛 Chase, a handsome boy with an adorable “toupee” and a gentle soul.
💛 Gene, a shy young bun looking for someone willing to help him build confidence.
💛 Mikayla, a beautiful young girl with unique markings and endless potential.
💛 Loki, a sweet senior who still has plenty of love, snuggles, and personality to share.

Please share post, tell your rabbit-loving friends, and help us find homes for these deserving buns. Every adoption creates space for another rabbit who desperately needs a second chance.

💛 Petey Needs a Hero! Foster Needed as He Continues to Heal 💛

Good News and Heartbreaking News for Petey: Doctors have not found any masses, which is wonderful for his long term prognosis. But, his facial swelling was caused by an ear abscess and ruptured eardrum, which caused him horrific pain over a long period of time. Thankfully, there is no tumor, and the swelling has already started to improve.

However, Petey isn’t out of the woods yet. And, our sweet boy is seeking a foster home to love him through recovery.

Petey is an adorable 5-year-old Frenchie with chronic ear disease that caused a painful abscess, facial swelling, and hospitalization. Petey is finally getting the medical care and pain relief so neglected. Thankfully, Petey is slowly improving, and his medical team is working to get his gastrointestinal issues under control so he can begin recovering in a foster home.

Once Petey is stable enough to leave the hospital, he will need a committed foster family willing to care for and snuggle him as he heals.

Years of chronic ear disease have left Petey with severe damage to both ears. Surgery is not yet recommended due to infection and inflammation, but he will likely need TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) surgery later this summer after the infection is better controlled.

Despite everything, Petey remains incredibly sweet and loving.

Can you open your home to this deserving boy while he continues to heal? Fostering saves lives, and Petey has a long road ahead of him.

❤️ Interested in fostering Petey? Please submit an application today at rbari.org. Can’t foster? Please consider sharing and making a donation to Petey’s continued care at rbari.org/medical.

Thank you for being part of Petey’s journey. With you by his side, comfort, healing, and happier days are in his future. ❤️

Penny is so ready for National Donut Day! 🍩

This adorable tiny bully girl has the shortest legs and widest shoulders, loves everyone she meets and is a sweet gentle soul who came from a situation where she wasn’t getting proper care.

She is about 2 years old and 33lbs full grown.

She is adorable and so so lovable, but sadly breed is known for many health issues and shortened lifespans. Intolerance to heat, breathing issues, and arthritis are prevalent due to being bred for their cute frog-like appearance rather than for their health, so adopters will have to be committed to regular vet visits, making sure she doesn’t get overweight, and careful monitoring. If you love a snorty mushy faced little bulldog and have a nice cool air-conditioned home for her to enjoy this summer, please submit an application to meet her at rbari.org/adopt

❤️ Chance's Happy Tails Isn't Just About Adoption — It's About Building Hope ❤️
We are so Close to Breaking Ground • Every Donation Still Matched

With only $60,000 remaining before we break ground, we are closer than ever before to creating better spaces, brighter futures, and more second chances for dogs like Chance.

Not long ago, Chance was waiting in one of our kennel runs. Like many dogs, shelter life was stressful. He struggled with anxiety and needed time, patience, and support to feel safe.

🐾 Today, Chance is home. When we called to check in, his adopter's first words were simple: "I LOVE HIM!"

Chance is spending time outside with his family, following his new dad around the yard, enjoying fresh air, and slowly settling into the life every dog deserves.

🐾 Chance is proof that the mission works. Proof that shelter dogs get adopted. Proof that second chances change lives. And, proof that environment matters.

A calmer environment helps dogs rest, heal, trust, and show adopters who they truly are. The right space helps fearful dogs gain confidence, supports recovery in dogs with medical needs, and gives vulnerable animals the best chance at a bright future.

This is exactly why we're building hope. Because the next Chance is already waiting.

Thanks to your support, we've now raised and secured commitments totaling $240,000. With only $60,000 remaining before Phase 1 can begin, we're closer than ever to creating better spaces, brighter futures, and more second chances for dogs like Chance.

💙 Let's keep building hope together at rbari.org/build.

💔 No Dog Should Have to Live Like This 💔
Petey's Face Swelled Painfully from Years of Ear Disease

Five-year-old Petey should be enjoying life, but instead, he has been living with chronic pain from untreated infection.

When Petey arrived at the hospital, his face was so swollen that he had stopped eating. Both of his ears are severely infected, and doctors believe the inflammation is causing nerve damage. They are also concerned about the possibility of a deeper infection or abscess.

Imagine living with a constant, throbbing earache for days, months, or even years. Every movement hurts. Every sound hurts. Even eating becomes impossible due to pain.

Despite everything he has endured, Petey remains incredibly sweet and trusting.

Our hope is that aggressive treatment will reduce the swelling and inflammation, but Petey's ears have suffered years of damage. Depending on how he responds, he may eventually require TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) surgery - an extensive procedure costing thousands of dollars, which may be the only way to finally give Petey relief from a lifetime of pain.

Please consider making a donation toward Petey’s continued medical care at rbari.org/medical 🐾 Venmo: 🐾 Zelle / PayPal [email protected] 🐾

Visit rbari.org to apply to foster / adopt Petey!

Petey didn't deserve to suffer this long. Thank you for helping us give this sweet boy the comfort, treatment, and future he deserves. ❤️
