Meet Aspen!
Arrived as a mom with 4 day old kittens and is now available for adoption..
Aspen is about 3-4 years old is our guess.
This lady went off to a foster home and they wrote this:
"Personality:
There are so many things to love about this girl, Aspen! She gives you 1,000 times more love than anyone could ever give her! She desires to sit on your lap; she's ready to hop on it before you even fully sit down! She's curious about everything you do and will get up and follow you from room to room watching and learning your routine. She not only asks for pets and snuggles, but she politely makes sure she gets those too, even with a nip or two! And she absolutely needs her scratch post. When she wakes up in the morning, she scratches it. When she runs into the bedroom, she scratches it. When she's gotten lots of love, she goes and scratches it.. She also enjoys sitting at the screen door watching the world go by and smelling the fresh air as it comes through the window.
I have two dogs, a 20 pounder and a 50 pounder but they are both very cat social and are fully respectful when new cats come into our house and are able to offer them their space as they adjust to the new environment. Aspen has done great getting to know the smaller dog and lets him come up and sniff her and she does the same to him. She's a little more hesitant with the bigger dog, however, she's getting there, even going so far as to jump on the bed to sleep near the bigger dog. She still hisses if the big dog moves quickly, however, I believe with time she'll get used to how dogs live and move as she doesn't jump or hiss nearly as much now as she did at the beginning of the week.
Interesting Facts:
But, what I have also learned is that Aspen does not like to be alone. She gets concerned and starts walking around the place crying looking for you, so she will definitely need a dog companion. As long as your dog is a calmer dog and can offer her the time and space she needs to get used to them, they'll do great!
She is the first cat I've come across that is respectful with her nail usage! The other night, she was making biscuits on my son's pants as he was petting her and he thought it was the weirdest thing because she was doing it without using her nails! Even when she jumps up on your legs with just her two front paws, she doesn't use her nails to grip onto you. She's very respectful with her nail usage. We love it!
She also sneezes and snorts a bit when she breathes, but she has been seen by a vet and she is completely healthy (we have the health records to confirm)! She just always sounds as though she has a stuffy nose.. If you have ever heard a Pug breathe, you'll understand. Because she always seems a bit stuffy, she has these sneeze fits from time to time where she sneezes 6, 7 or 8 times, but it has only happened twice this week so it doesn't happen all that often.
Conclusion:
We absolutely adore Aspen! A cat who loves your lap, who loves pets and snuggles, who wants to be with you and sleeps quietly in her crate at night, isn't too active but will chase a toy here and there, is fine by us! Don't pass up on this total lovebug! "
Our dream home for Aspen would be a house where someone is home a lot. She could live in a home with a mellow male cat and or a dog. Older children recommended. She is a little on the chunky side and needs a diet which will also help her allergies.
Aspen will be at our weekly adoption event tomorrow *Saturday* at the San Rafael Petco from 12-4. Stop by and meet her!
