London, a beautiful rescue from the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter, is making huge strides with her new family! 🐾
After having a tough experience with a dog-aggressive pup before, her owners came into training determined to set London — and themselves — up for success. And they’ve absolutely crushed it! 💪

With a little help from our assistant Sideshow, they’ve passed every challenge we’ve thrown their way — and they’ve even had the bonus of training in one of Tennessee’s gorgeous state parks. 🌳

Circus and Sideshow have been soaking up every bit of this gorgeous spring weather—and we’ve been loving it right alongside them. With solid training and their e-collars on, they get the freedom to explore, sniff, and romp while staying safe and responsive, no matter how exciting the world gets.

E-collar freedom isn’t just about control—it’s about communication. When used correctly, these tools help dogs enjoy more of the world around them with confidence, structure, and trust in their handler.

Please keep the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter in your thoughts and prayers. We are devastated by this news, but hope that this is resolved sooner rather than later 🙏 🐾

The Oak Ridge Animal Shelter will be temporarily closed after four dogs were diagnosed with distemper. Canine distemper is a contagious, serious disease that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems of dogs, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association. The shelter will remain closed while staff await test results and quarantine animals.

**A familiar face with a happy ending—Cotton has officially been adopted!**

This sweet, deaf pup has found his perfect match in Nick, a dedicated dog dad who’s committed to giving Cotton the life he deserves. As an only dog, Cotton is getting all the love and attention his big heart craves—and he’s already becoming the ideal travel companion and best friend.

We’re continuing to support Nick and Cotton as they work on long-distance communication using e-collar vibrations, helping to build reliable cues in all environments. Together, they're also making progress on Cotton’s anxiety and learning how to create calm, safe spaces where he can relax and regulate his emotions. Like many velcro dogs, Cotton thrives with close companionship, and he’s clearly found someone who truly understands him.

We couldn’t be more excited for this pair and look forward to seeing all they accomplish together. Congratulations, Nick—keep up the great work!

Spring sunshine means more time outside—and our boys, Circus and Sideshow, are loving every minute of it! ☀️🐾
With the warmer weather finally here, daily walks to our local disc golf course have become a favorite routine. Thanks to reliable e-collar training, they get the freedom to explore safely while staying connected with us.

Walking your dog isn't just about exercise—it's one of the most meaningful ways to build your relationship. Every walk is a chance to strengthen your bond, reinforce communication, and provide the mental enrichment your dog needs to unwind and feel fulfilled. Even just 15 minutes a day can make a world of difference.

**Meet Joy—our latest project with a whole lot of potential and just as much personality.** 💫🐾
This beautiful, high-energy Husky/Hound mix is currently available for adoption at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter, and while she’s full of love, she’s also full of… momentum! Joy has a habit of trying to scale the nearest human like a jungle gym the moment a leash comes out—which makes walks a bit of a challenge for even the most willing volunteers.

We want Joy to find the loving home she deserves, but first, she needs help learning how to channel her excitement and stay grounded—literally. She’s one of several high-need dogs we’re currently working with at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter.

Circus Dog Training has already volunteered **hundreds of hours** to help these pups, but to truly make a lasting impact, we need your support. Our goal is to transform the shelter experience into something more like a boarding school than a holding space—where dogs like Joy receive:

- Professional leash and emotional regulation training
- Thorough behavioral evaluations
- Safer handling practices for staff and volunteers
- Classes to help match the right dogs with the right adopters

🐾 Welcome the adorable Reece’s Pieces! 🐾

This tiny but mighty 2.5 lb miniature Yorkie is full of personality! Don’t let her size fool you—she’s got a big attitude and a lot to learn. While she’s undeniably adorable, her potty training is still a work in progress, she’s not a fan of leashes, and she has a very unfortunate love for goose p**p.

Since she stays by her mom’s side 24/7—whether at home or the office—we’re working on building her confidence, helping her regulate her emotions, and teaching her to respect her mom’s guidance. That means mastering recall, learning to leave things alone when asked, and becoming the best little office companion she can be!

Milly’s Transformation: From Stressed to Success!

We’re so proud to announce that Milly has officially graduated from training with us! She’s come a long way—from chasing DoorDash drivers back to their cars to calmly hanging out with her mom in a busy Hobby Lobby.

At Circus Dog Training, we do more than just obedience training—we specialize in behavior modification, too. That means helping dogs like Milly learn to regulate their emotions and feel confident in any situation. Now, instead of feeling overwhelmed, she knows how to work through her emotions, making the world a lot less scary.

One of the biggest game-changers for Milly has been her Place command. It’s given her a designated spot to decompress after stressful moments, and her mom has noticed a huge difference—she’s more relaxed and at ease than ever before.

🎉 Celebrating Dickle’s Progress! 🐾

We wrapped up our final training session with Dickle on Saturday! While there’s always room for growth, his parents now have a much clearer understanding of how he thinks, can anticipate his reactions, and confidently manage him—even in high-distraction areas. They have the tools they need to keep building on his progress!

To cap off our socialization and distraction training, we ended with a Puppy Party—letting all the dogs blow off some steam and just enjoy being dogs! Watching them run and play is always a joy for both the pups and their people. 🐶💨

We love getting updates like this from our clients! This is Dickle and Jazzy—fresh from their session with Quentin this morning and completely p**ped.

Tired pups are thoughtful pups, and thinking is half of training! Two hours of focused work turned into a multi-hour nap for these two.

If you want to see your dog napping peacefully instead of bouncing off the walls, mental engagement is the way to go! Physical exercise is great, but dogs are built to walk and run for miles. Challenge their brains, though, and you'll have one happy, tired pup!

Check out this fantastic video our client sent over! We wrapped up training with them and their sweet dog Peaches back in July of last year—and now they've even welcomed a second dog, Cobbler, into their family!

Not only did they choose amazing names, but they've also become stellar trainers themselves. They've taken our training to heart and are applying it successfully with their new pup, proving that our methods are truly effective. Even though we've never met Cobbler, the skills passed down by Peaches’ parents shine through in her progress.

**Sissy Grace is Making Strides!**

Sissy Grace is coming along swimmingly! She’s nearly picture-perfect in low-distraction environments like the house—she’s taken strongly to her *place* command and loves heading to her bed. Outside, on-leash has been a bit more of a challenge—at 80lbs, she knows how to throw her weight around!

During this session, Circus worked hard as a distraction and was *thrilled* when they finally got to play together at the end. This is one of our favorite rewards after a socialization/distraction session!

Sissy still has a way to go, but her parents are so grateful for the progress she’s made and how much calmer their home life has become. We’re so proud of her!
