Our Superstar Pups have been working so hard on their training, and they really want you to be there to watch them get their diplomas and show off their skills! Plus, there will be ice cream!

❤️‍🩹🙏 Help needed! (sensitive content warning)

This big, sweet mastiff girl came into our care at around 10:30pm last night, and her condition was an emergency: she was suffering from multiple forms of severe pelvic organ prolapse. It was late at night, but our medical team dropped everything to come in right away. We’re calling her Sapphire.

After our team did everything they could to make Sapphire more comfortable, she was transported to Veterinary Emergency Group to be hospitalized overnight. Today, still needing further care, she was transferred to a specialist for surgery.

We are so grateful we could be here for Sapphire when she needed us, and that she is now receiving great care—but none of it is possible without your support. If you can donate any amount, no matter how small, to help cover the cost of Sapphire’s surgery, it makes a huge difference.

Thank you to everyone who came to meet their newest family member over the weekend! Our Clear the Shelters event was a huge success, with 55 ACL pets finding their homes.

Clear the Shelters is only a few days away, and Earthworm Jim is one of the many wonderful pets hoping to meet his perfect match this weekend!

This little worm is the definition of goofy, and when it's playtime, he's got so much wiggly energy that it's impossible not to laugh. During his time here at the shelter, he's trained in our Superstar Pup Academy, learning useful commands like "sit," "place," and "lie down," and also how to be a calm, sweet boy when it happens to NOT be playtime. Now, he's more than ready to find his forever home!

Whether you're looking for a dog like Earthworm Jim or someone completely different, make sure to stop by and meet some animals this weekend! All adoption fees are waived 8/1 and 8/2!

Sorry, haters. Peanut Brittle doesn't have a single bad angle 💅

This adorable 3-pound, 6-month-old bun came to us after being abandoned with 28+ other rabbits, and it's clear that she was living in some pretty rough conditions. But here at the shelter, she's been regaining so much confidence!

Peanut Brittle wears her torn ear like a fashion statement, and she knows everyone is jealous of her beautiful coat. If you want to get to know this sweet girl, come meet her at the shelter! All adoption fees are waived this weekend for Clear The Shelters!

This is Sir Legsalot.

In 2025, he spent six months waiting for his chance to be adopted. When that chance came, he got a few great months in his new home, but was sadly returned when another cat joined the household, causing him extreme stress. Though he's been back with us since April, Legsalot hasn't given up—he's very hopeful that he'll find his forever home during next weekend's Clear The Shelters event!

Legs has become a celebrity at ACL, and if you ask anyone, they'll tell you how affectionate, playful, and most of all silly this guy is. He'll never fail to make you laugh, and while he doesn't like other cats, he's just fine with dogs! Sir Legsalot lives in a suite with a big window, and if you stop by next Saturday or Sunday, he'd absolutely love to show you around 💚

It’s a special Foster Friday, because our amazing underdog, Hamburger, is now available for adoption!

If you haven’t seen Hamburger’s story, this sweet boy was brought to ACL in the spring in heartwrenching condition. Likely inside a crate for an extended period of time, he was extremely malnourished and covered in sores from lying in one spot—one sore was so bad it had become a deep wound requiring urgent medical attention. In spite of all this, Hamburger just seemed happy to be meeting new friends.

As he took his first steps down the road to recovery, Hamburger went to foster care with Kaylee, one of ACL’s amazing behavior technicians. And though he had the remarkable ability to stay happy and sweet even in his darkest hour, he’s only gotten happier over the past few months. Not to mention much, much healthier!

“He was about 30 pounds when he first came to me,” Kaylee says. “Now he is a 60-70 pound dog and loving life!”

If Hamburger held onto some baggage from everything he went through, nobody would have blamed him. But instead, he decided he would be literally perfect:

“Hamburger has been a complete joy and such a sweet heart. He is housebroken, cat friendly, dog friendly, people friendly, kid friendly, crate trained, walks loose leashed 90% of the time, and knows sit and paw. Even when I'm not In the mood for snuggles... Yes I am. Because Hamburger said so ”

It’s hard not to be a little jealous of Hamburger’s constant joy, positivity, and ability to get along with everyone he meets.
