Ever wonder why horses roll?

Rolling is a completely natural behavior that helps horses scratch itchy places, loosen shedding hair, stretch their muscles, and simply relax. It can also help coat their skin with dust or mud, which provides some protection from insects and the sun.

Horses often roll after being ridden or bathed because it feels good and helps them dry off. Of course, they usually choose the dirtiest spot they can find—especially right after a bath! 🐴😂

Mutual grooming is one of the ways horses bond and communicate with each other. You’ll often see two horses standing side by side, gently scratching each other’s neck, withers, or back with their teeth. Besides reaching those itchy spots, it helps horses relax, builds trust, and strengthens their friendship within the herd. It’s basically the horse version of, “You scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours.” 🐴❤️

Finn had a good day supervising clearing out old dying trees and over grown bushes today. This is a project that we have wanted to start for years, but haven't found the time. Thankfully with the help of some added tractor attachments on the LS Tractor USA MT473 we could get the job done a little easier. No more hand shovel. Stump bucket, chains and our Catawba Attachments grapple to clean up the mess and haul it off to the burn pile. Finn is representing the Catawaba hat..

Now to add back in some better looking landscaping. Trick is, nothing the chickens will scratch and toss all over or try and take dirt baths in. Also plants that MarGOAT Robbie and Selena GOATmez won't eat.

Well, I officially foster failed. ❤️

After a unanimous decision, Sarafina is staying here with us permanently.

She has settled into our herd of mares so naturally, and even though I’ve always said I’m not the biggest fan of mares, she has completely won me over. She’s the sweetest girl, always the first to greet you in the pasture and happiest to be with people.

Yesterday we took her on our ice cream ride, and she was absolutely phenomenal. She handled everything like she’d been doing it her whole life, and that really sealed the deal for us.

So here’s to foster failing. Welcome home, Sarafina. We couldn’t be happier that you’re officially part of the Letchworth Farm family. ❤️🐴
