Santa's not the only one coming to town. We're also expecting a pair of storms here in Marin County, and they're bringing some serious rain!

We could see up to 10 inches of rainfall across the county over the next week, so localized flooding is highly likely. Take the steps now - while the sun is still out! - to get prepared:

➡ Sign up to receive emergency alerts at AlertMarin.org.
➡ Have sandbags at hand if you live in a low-lying areas.
➡ Clear gutters & drains of leaves.
➡ Assemble a stay-box so you can avoid unnecessary travel.
➡ Make an emergency plan - and make sure it includes pets!
➡ Stay informed and updated.

You can find a list of sandbag locations at Emergency.MarinCounty.gov. Learn how to prepare at ReadyMarin.org or find pet-specific disaster prep information on our website here:

Bernie's everyone's favorite mutt here at the shelter, and recently we got to wondering: What breed mix is he REALLY?

Breed mix isn't necessarily important but Bernie's a unique looking fellow, he's been with us a while, and everyone was just plain curious. So we decided to do an Embark Vet DNA test and get some answers!

What do you think we'll find on Bernie's Embark results? Some of the guesses from our staff include Akita Inu, French Bulldog, Australian Cattle Dog, and Certified Tennis Ball Monster.

Check out some pics of the handsome pup in question and let us know your guesses!

It's not too late to help Winnie! 🙏

Winnie’s the sweet dog who came to Marin Humane a few months ago in very bad shape. She had a broken pelvis and broken ribs, and she couldn’t move her back legs.

Winnie's been through so much. Bit she's come a long way with the help of pain medication, physical therapy, rest – and a lot of love!

However, cases like Winnie’s require significant resources and expenses, including medical costs, animal care, and staff time carrying out a cruelty investigation. We're currently awaiting an expert opinion regarding Winnie’s case, which will be the next step towards bringing her justice.

The good news is that Winnie had her re-check X-rays last Friday, and if all goes well, she'll be ready for her forever home soon!

We need your support to continue helping animals like Winnie. Your gift today will ensure that we are able to step up at a moment’s notice whenever animals need us!

Clara recently hit a heartbreaking milestone: a whole year in the shelter. 💔

This beautiful bunny's been with us since she was picked up as a stray on October 30, 2024(!!!!) in Nicasio. Clara was found alongside dozens of other bunnies, all dumped in a field and left to fend for themselves. Needless to say, domestic rabbits can't survive in the wild on their own, so we're extremely grateful to the folks who called our officers!

When we first took Clara in, she was covered in urine stains and mats, her nails were overgrown, and she was extremely shy. She clearly hadn't been living the cushiest lifestyle, even before she was abandoned. But over time, she's regained her sparkle and learned to love people!

Clara spent some time in foster and her foster family reported that she enjoyed hanging out with them while they read or watched TV. She loves having plenty of indoor space to explore and hop-around, and she'd be very happy with a variety of safe toys she can play with or chew on.

Will you be the hero who finally gives Clara a home of her own and a family she can depend on? If that might be you, come meet her! You can reach us at 415-506-6225 or stop by the shelter!

When 10-year-old Winnie came to Marin Humane in September, she couldn't move her back legs. X-rays and CT scans revealed Winnie had a broken pelvis and multiple broken ribs, in addition to evidence of other past injuries. 💔

Due to possible trauma to her lungs and concern for nerve damage in her back end, Winnie couldn't safely undergo surgery to repair her broken pelvis. And yet, despite everything she's been through, she shows a will to live that touches everyone who meets her.

While surgery couldn't resolve Winnie’s injuries, pain medication, physical therapy, and rest in a loving foster home has helped her come a long way in just a couple months. Now she's able to walk - and continues to share her opinion through her signature vocalizations whenever she deems it necessary! 😉

Because Winnie is a victim of animal cruelty, our Animal Services team is working diligently with the Marin County District Attorney’s office to help bring justice to her case. Cases like Winnie’s require significant resources including medical costs, animal care expenses, and staff time carrying out a cruelty investigation.

That’s why we need YOUR support to continue helping animals like Winnie – the animals who need us most! Please make your gift today because costs should not be a factor in our work to transform lives. When you make a gift to Marin Humane, you're truly saving lives! 💪
