⭐ WE STILL NEED FOSTERS! ⭐

We have more than a dozen kittens recovering from ringworm who would love some cozy foster homes where they can hang out while they finish their treatment.

If this is your first time hearing about it, allow us to reassure you: ringworm isn't a worm at all! It's simply a common skin fungus (a bit like athlete's foot) that's very manageable. Caring for a ringworm kitten is straightforward; they just need a quick daily dose of oral medication and gentle medicated baths a couple times a week.

Ringworm can spread to humans and other pets, BUT it only takes a few smart habits to prevent that:
🧤 Wear disposable gloves when handling them
🧹 Maintain a clean, easy-to-sanitize environment
🚪 Keep the kittens in a separate room (a spare bathroom works great!)

We love our shelter but it's no place for a growing kitten to spend weeks recovering. By opening your heart and home, you give them the space they need to thrive! We'll equip you with every bit of medicine, food, supplies, and guidance to set you up for total success.

Yesterday we celebrated National Dog Day at Sutter Health Novato Community Hospital with some of our animal ambassador teams! The hospital celebrated the special day with a ceremony, where dogs and volunteers received certificates and gifts thanking them for their support, followed by a parade through the hospital to bring smiles and tail wags to everyone!

Attending the ceremoney were Alfred and his handler Tracy, and Pepper and her handler Dan. Through our Animal-Assisted Programs, we have five dog and handler teams who frequent Novato Community Hospital to brighten the days of both patients and staff!

Got a good throwing arm? Porter wants to meet you! This boy never met a toy or game of fetch he didn't like! Grab a tennis ball, a frisbee, or even a stuffed toy - Porter's ready.

Porter is a 7-year-old Lab mix and at about 85 pounds, he's a tall, strong fellow. He may need a strong arm behind his leash (good thing you exercised your muscles tossing a bal!), but he's also cooperative and easy to handle. Porter's lived with other dogs before, so while he hasn't been too interested in his fellow canines here at the shelter - he doesn't think they're as cool as toys - we know he can successfully share his space.

"Found alone in the parking lot of Applebee’s in Petaluma, she ended up at Marin Humane. No one claimed her. After the five-day waiting period, the shelter put her up for adoption. By the time I met her, she had spent a month in a kennel, passed over by people who somehow missed her inner beauty.

Poor Lucy. She needed a break. I could give it to her because Marin Humane now lets people foster for a couple of days."

Meet Lillie, a gorgeous 4-year-old girl with stunning Turkish Van-inspired looks and a heart just as big as her personality! This social butterfly is a true "people-person" who loves nothing more than being right in the middle of the action. Her previous guardian shared that she’s the ultimate bedtime companion, happily snoozing on the bed right beside you.

Since Lillie is as smart as she is sweet, she’s looking for a cat-savvy human who can speak her language. She’s a lady who knows her own mind and appreciates a friend who can tell when she needs a little "me time" between snuggle sessions.
