The sights — and especially the sounds — of Fourth of July celebrations can be terrifying to animals. Here's what you can do to keep pets safe.

Ugh, it’s that time of year again. People are already setting off fireworks ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, even in Marin, where they’re illegal. Don’t get me wrong, fireworks can be visually amazing, but what’s not so amazing is their…

This is Rufus and he's looking for a foster home!

Rufus is a friendly, playful, 9-month-old French Bulldog. He's high energy (he's still an adolescent after all!) but he's also very fun-loving, sweet, and smart. He's treat-motivated and has learned sit, among other commands.

Rufus is currently recovering from Canine Papillomavirus, which causes wart-like lesions on his lips and mouth. This virus is highly contagious to other dogs, but it is NOT contagious to humans or other animals. Rufus needs a foster home with no other dogs to avoid spreading the virus. The lesions should disappear on their own within 1 – 2 months and should not require any additional care aside from visual checks to confirm they are healing.

Sometimes Rufus gets over-excited when he's having a good time, so a dog-savvy home that can manage his energy while avoiding any contact with other dogs would be a good match for him. We're eager to get Rufus into a home environment so he doesn't have to wait in a shelter kennel during his healing period.

If you’re interested in fostering Rufus or just want to learn more, please email Suzanne at [email protected].

Kitty Corner will be closed on Wednesday, June 24 & Thursday, June 25 for building maintenance - so today's the day to come adopt all these feline friends!

Kitty Corner is our cats-only outpost in San Anselmo's Red Hill Shopping Center and it's wall-to-wall cute right now.

🐾Palisades & Sentinel are bonded, 3-month-old brothers who love to play and purr like crazy.

🐾Jules is a 5-year-old former feral who appreciates the cozy, pampered life now - plus she's a champion biscuit maker!

🐾Baby Jane & Digby are 10 weeks old, friendly as can be, and eager for a home with room for a dynamic brother-sister duo.

And there are even more kitties waiting for you! Check them out at marinhumane.org/cats.
