For our final Immunization Awareness Series, we’re talking about Vaccine Reactions! While not super common, we definitely think it’s important to know not only what it could look like when your pet is having a reaction to a vaccine, but to differentiate between a mild reaction and a severe one, so you act appropriately.

Even given this information, vaccinating your pets is super important. As mentioned, vaccine reactions, even the mild ones, are not common, with most pets able to go about their day as normal after receiving a vaccine. And, as we’ve been mentioning all month, vaccines protect against many highly contagious and severe diseases/infections, some of which even people can get. The benefits absolutely outweigh the risks.

Today is National Check the Chip Day! It’s our yearly reminder to check that your pet’s microchip registration information is up-to-date.
In the event your pet is separated from you, checking for a microchip is the first step in the recovery process, which is why it’s so important that (1) your pets are chipped, and (2) they’re registered! Many chip manufacturers have their own registry, but there is also the Free Pet Microchip Registry, available at www.freepetchipregistry.com.

If your pet needs a microchip, or you just want to find out what their chip number is, come on in! We do free microchip scans at any time, and we can provide you with that information. We can also microchip your pet, or you can schedule an appointment with Marin Humane!
