🐾 Want to make a difference for animals in our community?

The Huron County Humane Society is looking for people who want to share their time and talents to help support our animals and our mission! ❤️

There are many ways to get involved, and volunteering isn't limited to working directly with animals. Depending on our current needs, opportunities may include helping with shelter activities, events and fundraisers, community outreach, administrative projects, animal enrichment, and more.

Whether you have a little time to give or are looking for a way to become more involved, we'd love to hear from you!

👻 Mikey — Tummy Rubs That Aren't a Trap?!

We know this sounds suspicious... but Mikey actually likes tummy rubs. 😂

Mikey is just over a year old, absolutely gorgeous, and incredibly affectionate. He’ll even roll over and invite you to rub his belly — and unlike most cats, IT'S NOT A TRAP. 🙀

Mikey can be pretty nervous around men when he first meets them, so he’ll need a little patience while he realizes he’s safe. Once he’s comfortable, though, there is a whole lot of love waiting underneath that handsome exterior. ❤️

🤡 Bill — Here for the Tricks AND the Treats

Bill doesn't need a Halloween costume to be a character. 😂🎃

At around 1½ years old, Bill is a silly, playful guy with plenty of personality. He can be a little shy when he first meets you, but give him some time to warm up and you'll get to see the goofy boy underneath.

🎃 Meet Niko

No tricks here—Niko is one smart, sweet boy hoping to find the perfect home this Halloween! 🎃🐾

This handsome 2-year-old is incredibly smart, sweet, affectionate, and full of personality. He loves hugs and attention and has already made great progress since coming to us.

Niko is a herding breed with some specific needs, so finding the right home for him is especially important. He needs someone who has experience with herding dogs and understands their behaviors. He can nip when trying to get his way or “herd” people, so a home with small children would not be a good fit. He is also cat reactive. Niko seems to do well with most dogs, although a meet and greet will be required.

And this boy has some serious hops! 🦘 Because Niko is quite the jumper, a 6-foot fence is REQUIRED, with no exceptions. Herding breed experience is also required. He would benefit greatly from professional training and a home that can give him plenty of structure, activity, patience, and consistency.

Niko has come a long way considering his life before coming to us. With the right person willing to continue working with him, we know this sweet, intelligent boy has so much potential to be an amazing companion. ❤️

This Halloween, the best treat Niko could get isn’t in a candy bucket—it’s the right forever home. 🧡🖤

🎬 We need your help making this year’s Vine & Dine a blockbuster! 🐾

The Huron County Humane Society is preparing for our 19th Annual Vine & Dine Fundraiser: Black & White Movie Night, and we are currently seeking donations for our auction!

We would love donations from local businesses, organizations, and individuals. Gift baskets, gift cards, merchandise, experiences, services, tickets, or other unique items all make wonderful additions to our auction.

Every item donated helps make Vine & Dine a success and, most importantly, helps us continue providing care, shelter, and support to animals in need in our community. ❤️

If you or your business would like to donate an auction item, please contact the Huron County Humane Society or stop by during our regular business hours. We kindly ask that all auction items be received by October 25th.
