NORWALK AM IRN BUSINESS BRIEF

Welcome to our first edition of the Business Brief, where we highlight the local business owners who make up our Norwalk AM IRN chapter!

This week, we heard from one of our members Insight Type & Graphics about her work in design, graphics, and lettering, and how a small door lettering job turned into ongoing work for two of our area's leading semi-truck fleets!

✅ What's the secret to turning a small job into long-term, repeat business?

"Never underestimate the power of a referral. Care for every job and client the same way you would your largest and most profitable."

✅ Why choose a local professional for your design, graphics, and lettering needs?

“Local businesses understand our community, the businesses that operate here, and the customers they're trying to reach. That's something an out-of-town company or online service can't always offer!”

Check out this week's video and be sure to give her business page a follow! 👏

🤝 WHAT IS IRN?
IRN (International Referral Network) is a group of local small business owners and professionals who come together to build relationships, exchange referrals, and help each other's businesses grow!

Our Norwalk AM chapter meets weekly at 7:30 AM in downtown Norwalk, and we are always looking to connect with other local business owners!

Brandon Balduff presented at last week’s IRN meeting, giving us a great education on why not all carpet cleaning and duct cleaning services are created equal!

Different equipment can produce very different results, and Brandon takes pride in providing his customers with high-tech equipment, professional training, certifications, and years of experience.

With more than 35 years in business and 40 years at their current Norwalk location, Balduff’s Carpet & Floor Coverings has built a reputation for quality service. About 20 years ago, they expanded into duct cleaning. Brandon researched the industry carefully and selected what he believed was the best equipment for the job.

While many companies use the same equipment for both carpet and duct cleaning, Brandon made the decision to invest in separate, specialized equipment specifically designed for duct cleaning.

Their services complement their flooring business and include carpet and upholstery cleaning, duct cleaning, and dryer vent cleaning, providing customers with a great resource for keeping their homes clean, comfortable, and well maintained.

Thank you, Brandon, for sharing your knowledge and expertise with our IRN group!

We had a great presentation from Nick Hurst of KC Home Improvement at our networking meeting this morning!
Nick gave us a great education on what goes into quoting a roof, whether it’s for a residential home or a commercial building. There’s much more involved than simply measuring the roof, and understanding those details helps customers make informed decisions about their projects.
KC Home Improvement offers much more than roofing! Their services include:
Roofing – Residential & Commercial
Seamless Gutters – Fabricated on-site with their portable gutter machine
Siding
Doors
Windows
Kitchen Remodeling
Bathroom Remodeling
If you’re considering improvements to the outside or inside of your home or business, KC Home Improvement can help bring your project together.
Thank you, Nick, for sharing your knowledge with our IRN members this morning! We appreciate learning more about the businesses and services we can confidently refer to one another. 🤝

This morning’s meeting was all about listening for opportunity statements and learning how to turn those conversations into quality referrals for our fellow members.
We talked about:👂 Listening carefully for things people say that may point to a need or opportunity.💡 Planting an idea that could help someone by connecting them with the right IRN member.🎯 Keeping the person in mind and understanding the benefits of working with our member rather than simply sending them to “someone.”📞 Following up properly to make sure the person actually connected with the referral.📋 Giving our member a heads-up with any information they may need to better serve the potential client.
A great referral isn’t just passing along a name and phone number. It’s about listening, understanding the need, making the connection, and helping both people succeed.
That’s what International Referral Network is all about—building relationships and helping each other grow through quality connections. 🤝

Miles Mull from Firelands Family Law was our guest speaker this morning. Miles shared valuable information about adoption, stepparent rights, grandparents’ rights, and visitation, helping us better understand some of the legal issues families can face.
What really stood out was Miles’ personal experience. Having gone through the adoption process himself—first being adopted by his father and later adopting his own son—he brings a unique level of understanding and compassion to his work.
Miles is committed to answering his clients’ questions, making sure they understand their options, and helping them feel comfortable throughout what can sometimes be a difficult and emotional process.
Thank you, Miles, for sharing your knowledge and personal perspective with our chapter.

Pat Spettel of RE/MAX Quality Realty shared his knowledge and experience with us Friday morning at our networking meeting.
Pat provides personalized, one-on-one service, working directly with his clients throughout the entire real estate transaction. With 10 years of experience as a CPA and 4 years as a licensed real estate agent, Pat brings a unique financial perspective to helping his clients navigate the buying and selling process.
Pat answered a variety of questions about today’s real estate industry, including:
* Home maintenance: What repairs and maintenance items are most important to take care of to protect and improve your home’s resale value.
* Home upgrades: Which improvements can actually add value to your home—and which may not provide the return homeowners expect.
* Selling a home “as is”: Whether you can sell a home as is, what that means for the seller, and what buyers can expect.
* Short sales: What a short sale is, how the process works, and why short sales are not as common in today’s market.
Pat’s presentation provided valuable insight for both homeowners and anyone considering buying or selling a home. His combination of accounting experience and real estate knowledge gives his clients a valuable resource when making important real estate decisions.

Greg Patrick from Primerica was our speaker last week and delivered a great presentation on the importance of “time in the market, not timing the market.”
Greg demonstrated how investments can grow significantly when given more time to compound. One of the biggest takeaways was that starting early—even with smaller amounts—can potentially produce greater results over time than waiting until later in life and investing larger sums.
His presentation was a great reminder that the earlier you start planning and investing, the more time your money has to work for you. But it is never too late to start investing or have your financial portfoli reviewed. Call Greg to a consultation about your financial future.

Innovators was started by Sarah Reed to help kids in our community. She was our presenter on Friday morning and emphasized the many benefits offered by this program.

Future Innovators is a nonprofit STEM and robotics club helping students from 1st through 12th grade discover the exciting world of robotics, engineering, coding, and technology. Students gain hands-on experience designing and building robots while developing valuable skills in problem-solving, teamwork, creativity, and leadership.

Sarah is in need of more adults who would be willing to help a couple of hours a few times a week. A great prospect would be someone who has an electrical engineering background, or someone who truly enjoys spending time with kids.

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM most weeks. Kids interested in the program are welcome to stop by and check it out. If you know a kid who enjoys playing video games or building things with Legos, this takes it to the next level!
