Luisa was ready for adoption after being in a loving foster home for months. 🩷
She was originally part of a trap and release situation, but she was just too sweet to put back outside, so into a foster home she went.
It took a while to break down Luisa’s walls, but with patience and love she melted!

This past Monday was a big day for Luisa, as she was headed to our habitats at Doggie Dons in East Northport, where the next part of her journey was about to begin.

Our store volunteers are incredibly important to our rescue. They are the ones that help our fur babies relax and show them that even though they are in a cage, they are loved. They come twice a day and play with them, clean their litter box, feed them, give them treats, brush them and hold them.

The first few days in a habitat is always the hardest for our fur babies. Most of the time, they hide on day one, and by day 3 are coming out for some fun and treats. Some even acclimate immediately.

Every blue moon, we get a kitty that just cannot handle the cage. They will hide, may not eat, sometimes they will pant and cry non stop. When this happens, we depend strongly on our volunteers to alert us.

Luisa was one of those kittens. The decision was made to remove Luisa from our habitat at Doggie Don’s and place her back in her foster home.

As soon as Luisa was back in foster, she couldn’t stop purring and her adorable personality came back. The video on this post shows her about 10 minutes after getting back home.

Now is the hard part. How do we get her adopted with out the exposure? That’s where our supporters come in. She is on our website. We will post her often on social media. If you could help us by sharing her story, anyone interested in meeting her, can fill out an application and when approved (which of course is never a commitment) we can set up a meet and greet in her foster home.🩷🙏

She is only around 11 months old. She is affectionate and playful and loves other cats. Please help us get this beautiful soul adopted !🙏🙏

Just look at that silly face!! 💙💙
Dice was originally supposed to be a “trap and release” when he was found with a colony of cats. While recovering from his neuter surgery, we discovered that he was a calm and loving gentleman. There was no way we could put him back on the streets, so into foster care he went. He absolutely LOVES other cats and should go to a home with some fur friends. Dice can be shy at first, but if given the time he needs to decompress, his personality emerges. He is sweet and loves to be pet including leg rubs! He is estimated to have been born around 1/2024, so this sweet boy is still so young…he has gone through a lot at such a young age and is just looking for a place to finally call home.

If you would like to meet Dice in his foster home, please fill out an application at www.northportcatrescue.org (never a commitment).

When little Luisa came to us, she was part of a trap and release program. After she was spayed, it was determined that this little fluff ball definitely had potential to be socialized so off to a wonderful foster home she went, and after a few months boy did she prove all of us right!! 🥰🩷

She can be timid at first but she loves to be pet and is very affectionate and purrs easily. She’s vocal but not with meows, she has a little trill going all the time.
She loves other cats as well and even won over the two cats in her foster home quickly and believe me it wasn’t an easy crowd !!

Luisa is a beautiful, petite, long haired black and white girl. She has a tiny white spot on her chest and then when she rolls over, she has lots of white on the belly. Her main physical attribute is her very fluffy tail. She sways it gracefully, especially in your face!

She loves to look out the windows and birdwatch and she is quite silly and loves to play. She is just beautiful. She’s estimated to be have been born around June 2024 so she’s just under a year and is still very kitten- like. She will need someone that will be patient with her to open up in her new home but when she does, she is absolutely perfect. She also definitely needs another kitty in the home with her as she loves the company.

Luisa will be at Doggie Don’s in East Northport starting tomorrow- Monday.

If you would like to meet Luisa, please fill out an application which is never an commitment of course at www.northportcatrescue.org ❤️

Please meet Joanie and Richie🩷

We believe that Joanie is around 6 years old and Richie is her son at around 5 years old. They are very bonded.
They were being taken care of by a lovely man, who sadly passed away. They were found roaming around the home outside, and a family friend would go there each day to feed them. She contacted NCRA and we took them into rescue. They were cautious at first, but sweet. Once in foster care, they thrived.

They are mild mannered and sweet kitties and even love other cats 💙

Richie can be a bit timid at first, but once he warms up to you, expect lots of headbutts, nuzzles and kitty kisses.
Joanie is the ultimate lap cat, loves to be brushed and has the deepest and loudest purr! When she is not curled up in your lap or snuggling with her son, she loves nothing more than watching the world go by from a window.

Are you looking for the purrfect pair? They are no longer kittens, but they are still young! Their personalities are here to stay. What you see is what you get. It is not always easy for a pair of cats that are no longer tiny kittens to get adopted. Joanie is a chunky monkey, and her snuggles are nothing less than amazing. Once you break through to Richie, the reward is loyalty like no other. They just need a chance.

We know their forever family is out there. If you think it is you – let us know or fill out an application (never a commitment), and we would be happy to set up a meet and greet in their foster home!

We know there are “Happy Days” ahead of them-hee hee

Come on down and meet Harlem! The sweetest and most gentle kitten ever. He was born around September of 2024.
Get this – Harlem and his friend Brooklyn were found by a fireman in Harlem. They were found in a duffle bag by a garbage bin outside of a building.
Thrown out like yesterdays trash. If they were not crying for help, they would never have been saved.

Brooklyn was pregnant and went into foster care and had her babies in safety. She has been an incredible mommy, and her kittens and Brooklyn will be available for adoption soon.
BUT Harlem, found as just a kitten, is ready for his forever home!!!
He went into the most loving foster home, and he is thriving.
He is silly, loving, affectionate, snuggly and adorable. He loves everyone and other cats too. He is irresistible when he makes his air biscuits, and he just melts your heart.

Animals are amazing…such a horrific past, and yet, he holds no resentment…showing the world how forgiving and innocent these beautiful creatures are.

You can put in an application at www.northportcatrescue.com to meet Harlem or come to our event on Sunday!! Please share this amazing little boy with all your friends, we are hoping he finds his forever home soon!

P.S. Don’t worry those daffodils were only for the photo…Harlem’s foster mom put them in a safe place where Harlem could not get to them as they are poisonous to kitties.

Meet Chloe and Bowie, bonded best friends, Northport Cat Rescue Associations kitties of the week 💙🩷

Chloe and Bowie came in to rescue at the same time. They were both born in March of 2024, and met in foster care. Chloe is a beautiful little girl and Bowie a sweet male tabby.

Since then, they have been inseparable, playing and snuggling with each other. Some think cats do not really bond to each other and often wonder if we as a rescue should keep them together. Well, Chloe and Bowie are proof that even though they are not siblings, they are as close as any pair can be. Where there is one, the other is always behind. Two peas in a pod, they are currently in our habitats at Petco Huntington, and they can be found cuddling and cleaning each other.

As affectionate as they are towards each other, they are total hams to anyone that will give them love.
Bowie likes to be picked up and will give you nose to nose kisses when you need them most
Chloe is a purring machine. They get along with other cats beautifully. In fact, at Petco Huntington there is another pair of kitties named Jane and Bean. They were very scared in our habitats and were hiding under their blankets. When Chloe and Bowie arrived, all of that changed and they were instrumental in showing Jane and Bean that all would be ok. The four of them have become great friends and Jane and Bean now come out and play and are as silly and loving as Chloe and Bowie.

Chloe and Bowie are such loving and gentle souls and have yet to receive even one adoption application. They are growing up in our habitats but are patiently waiting for their happily ever after. If you would like to meet them or their friends Jane and Bean, fill out an application at www.northportcatrescue.org (never a commitment) and we could set up a fun meet and greet with all of them! 💕🙏🙏
