Here’s to the pet dads who show up 15 minutes early, don’t know what meds their pet’s on, and still get an A+ for effort. You’re doing great, sweetie.

You may not know the name of the prevention, but you never miss a potty break before the appointment, and you always hold the leash like a pro.

This is Nemo, an excellent kitten name, and a very brave patient who came in with a hurt paw.

He’s still weight-bearing (meaning he’s putting pressure on the leg), which helps us narrow things down. If your pet starts limping at home, whether they’re bearing weight or holding the limb completely off the ground (non-weight-bearing) makes a big difference in urgency and treatment.

To help your vet give the best advice over the phone or at check-in, try to observe and share:

– When did the limping start?
– Is the pet bearing weight or not?
– Any swelling, wounds, or sensitivity to touch?
– Any recent trauma (jumped, fell, played too hard, etc.)?

We love a dramatic backstory at HLPC, but we REALLY love details that help us treat your pet right the first time. Nemo’s prognosis? Looking good, but with a strict “no parkour” rule for now.💗💜

Parasites love a negligent owner. Be the problem for them, not your pet.

A simple f***l test can detect intestinal parasites like roundworms, hookworms, giardia, and more, many of which show no signs until your pet is already uncomfortable (or worse, contagious). All it takes is a small stool sample, and we can identify the problem under the microscope.

If something is found? Treatment is typically quick, effective, and affordable usually an oral dewormer or antiparasitic. No drama. No mystery symptoms. Just a healthier pet and a parasite-free home.
