โ๏ธ๐พ Hot Pavement = Hot Paws! ๐พโ๏ธ
Summer is here, and while the sunshine is great for walks, it can be dangerous for your pet's paws.
If the pavement feels hot to your hand, it's too hot for your pet's feet. Asphalt and concrete can heat up quickly and cause painful burns in just minutes.
๐ก๏ธ Keep your pet's paws safe by:
๐พ Walking during the cooler morning or evening hours
๐พ Sticking to grass or shaded paths when possible
๐พ Testing the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds
๐พ Considering protective booties for longer walks
๐พ Watching for signs of burned paws, including limping, licking, redness, or reluctance to walk
Remember, your dog may be excited for a walk, but they can't tell you when the ground is too hot.
At Baeyens Hauk Veterinary Group, we want all of our furry friends to enjoy a safe and happy summer. A little planning can help prevent a painful injury and keep those tails wagging all season long! โ๏ธ๐ถโค๏ธ
